Patent number: 8491217Abstract: A water-ballasted molded plastic barrier system incorporates barrier segments wherein each segment employs a sawtooth reflective design, designed to prevent the tire of a vehicle, impacting the barrier, from climbing up the side of the barrier segment. Adjacent barrier segments are attached together using an interlocking knuckle design, having a lug pin connection system. Wire rope cable assemblies are internally molded into each barrier segment to create an impenetrable cable fence. The wire rope cable assemblies include steel bushings which are molded into the interlocking knuckles to further strengthen the barrier system.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2010Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: TrafFix DevicesInventors: Jack H. Patent number: 5868520Abstract: The disclosed tire-lock channelizer drum can be secured into a stationary sidewall of a worn out steel-belted radial tubeless truck tire. The tire ring formed by the sidewall is annular, with an inner edge and an outer edge. The tire-lock channelizer drum of the present invention can be inserted into and secured around the inner edge of the stationary tire ring, without the user having to lift the heavy tire ring up and over the top of the channelizer drum.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1996Date of Patent: February 9, 1999Assignee: Traffix DevicesInventors: Brent M. Patent number: 5836558Abstract: An adjustable bracket is disclosed for use in mounting a display sign, equipment, or the like on the post of a support stand, which is quick and easy to use, requires no tools, is easy to fabricate, and is adaptable to posts of different sizes and shapes. When installed, it is adapted to firmly grip the post along three lines of contact, thereby firmly securing the bracket at a predetermined location. An improved flexible sign receiving portion for such a bracket is also disclosed, which permits a flexible sign to be installed therein in a single motion, and provides a secure attachment of the sign to the sign stand, even in adverse conditions.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1996Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Traffix DevicesInventors: Jack H. Patent number: 5755528Abstract: A rubber stabilizing base includes a sidewall of a worn out steel belted radial tubeless truck tire. The sidewall is annularly shaped, with an inner edge and an outer edge. An intermediate portion of the rubber stabilizing base contacts the inner edge of the sidewall and joins the sidewall to the intermediate portion. A circumferential wall is connected to the intermediate portion. Both the intermediate portion and the circumferential wall are annular, and the circumferential wall includes at least one locking lip adapted to be engaged with the traffic channelizer drum to thereby connect the traffic channelizer drum to the unitary stabilizing base. An inner portion of the rubber stabilizing base has one or more steps disposed thereon. The steps are grippable by the hand of a user to facilitate easy movement of the rubber stabilizing base.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1996Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: TrafFix DevicesInventors: Jack H. Patent number: 5749673Abstract: A safety delineator is provided which includes a conical body portion to which is attached one or more vertical panels. A new and improved handle feature permits easy and comfortable full hand gripping of the delineator and also prevents sticking and jamming together of a plurality of the delineators when they are stacked. The delineators may be stacked without removing the vertical panels, since each vertical panel is particularly designed to wrap around the conical body portion to which it is attached as another vertical delineator slides over it.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1995Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Traffix DevicesInventors: Jack H. Patent number: 5560732Abstract: A safety delineator is provided having either a conical or a tubular body portion, which has an improved handle feature permitting easy and comfortable full hand gripping of the delineator. The invention additionally solves a longstanding problem common to prior art support bases for delineators and the like, by providing a convenient handle, molded integrally with the support base element, for picking up the base. The inventive handle not only provides a convenient means for grabbing the delineator, but it also provides an additional advantage with respect to conical delineators, in that it prevents them from sticking together when they are stacked. Two types of inventive support bases are disclosed. One is a base molded from a heavy solid material, such as rubber, and includes additional advantageous features such as anti-skid grippers on the bottom surface of the base element and stacking rings molded onto the upper surface of the base element for assisting in compactly stacking a plurality of bases.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Assignee: Traffix DevicesInventors: Jack H.
