Publication number: 20230002579Abstract: A porous polymer monolith comprises a polymer body having macroporous through-pores that facilitate fluid flow through the body and an array of mesopores adapted to bind from the fluid flow molecules of a predetermined range of sizes, wherein the surface area of the monolith is predominantly provided by the mesopores. Also disclosed is a method of making a porous polymer monolith. The method includes forming a polymer body by phase separation out of a solution containing at least a monomer, a crosslinker and a primary porogen, whereby the body contains multiple macroporous through-pores, wherein the solution further contains a secondary porogen comprising oligomers inert with respect to the monomer and cross-linker but chemically compatible with the monomer so as to form mesostructures within the polymer body during said phase separation, and washing the mesostructures from the body to provide an array of mesopores such that the surface area of the monolith is predominantly provided by the mesopores.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2022Publication date: January 5, 2023Applicant: Trajan Scientific Australia Pty LtdInventors: Hans-Jurgen WIRTH, Wei Boon HON

Patent number: 11274687Abstract: A liquid junction assembly for providing a flow connection between two tubular conduits. The assembly includes respective bodies configured to define elongated passages of respective first and second cross sections to receive and locate the respective tubular conduits, a plate with at least one hole therethrough of a third cross section smaller than the first and second cross sections, and a seat for the plate, defined in a face of one or both of the bodies. The bodies and the plate are assembled with the plate in the seat and the elongated passages and the hole aligned along a common axis.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2017Date of Patent: March 15, 2022Assignee: Trajan Scientific Australia Pty LtdInventors: Michael Bailey, Brett R. Barnett, Paul S. Griffiths

Patent number: 11081330Abstract: A method of forming a capillary tube for electrospray ionization (ESI) having at least one tip with a desired tip profile. The method includes providing a pre-finished capillary tube of substantially homogenous material. The capillary tube has a first end and an internal bore. The first end of the pre-finished capillary tube is wet-etched in an etchant for an etch duration. A protective fluid flows through the internal bore of the capillary tube at a flow rate during the etch duration and the flow rate and the etch duration are determined to obtain the desired tip profile below a liquid level of the etchant.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2019Date of Patent: August 3, 2021Assignee: Trajan Scientific Australia Pty LtdInventors: Kyle John James Bachus, Herbert Tze Cheung Foo, Heike Ebendorff-Heidepriem, Yvonne Marie Stokes, Josef Adam Giddings

Patent number: 9182327Abstract: A flow control assembly for use in preparation of samples for analysis by solid phase extraction includes a housing assembly having a first passage communicating with a needle bore and locating a solid phase sorbent, a second fluid port, and a valve for selective aspiration or delivery of fluid across a solid phase sorbent, or bypassing the solid phase sorbent. Independent flow paths are provided for a sample via the needle, and of the elution solvent via a separate port. The valve includes relatively slideable first and second members, the second member including an elongate shank that is relatively reciprocably slideable for effecting selective aspiration or delivery of fluid between first and second relative positions. A third fluid port may be provided communicating with the elongate second passage for selective fluid communication with a port in a shank when the shank is at the second relative position.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2013Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignee: TRAJAN SCIENTIFIC AUSTRALIA PTY LTDInventors: Ernest Frederick Dawes, Andrew Gooley
