Abstract: A pile height sensor in a sheet automatic dispenser machine for dispensing heets one by one, said pile height sensor including a lift tray on which a pile of sheets rests, characterized in that it includes a lever which has a first arm and a second arm rotatably mounted on a stationary pivot pin, which is integral with the frame of the machine, a small thin resilient blade being fixed to the end of the first arm of the lever and resting on the top of the pile of sheets, a spring bearing against the second arm of the lever in the vicinity of the pivot pin, the spring being compressed by an adjusting screw.The invention applies in particular to bank-note dispensers.

Abstract: The invention comes within the field of magnetic recording. A method of ontating and fixing in a determined direction magnetic particles contained in a polymerizable ink (2) spread on a support (1), characterized by the following operations; the support is conveyed towards a zone (5) subjected to a magnetic field whose orientation and direction are adjusted as a function of time in accordance with the message to be written, the support passing through the zone at an adjustable speed, and while the support is passing therethrough, the ink deposited on it is polymerized by means of ultraviolet radiation from a lamp (10) which reaches only a part of the zone submitted to the magnetic field, said part corresponding to that through which said inked support last passes.The invention applies in particular to identity documents.

Abstract: Permanent magnetic recordings are made by orienting the magnetic particles f a polymerizable ink in a first direction, then selectively polymerizing the ink to fix some of the particles in the first direction. The remaining particles are then oriented in a second direction and the previously unpolymerized portions of the ink are polymerized, while the ink is kept in a magnetic field tending to orient the particles in the second direction to prevent the particles fixed in the first direction from blurring the magnetic pattern before the polymerization is effective to lock it in completely. Such recordings are particularly useful for ID cards.

Abstract: On a video screen displaying lines of characters, a character position, wher displaying a character or blank, is found by means of a search performed after a light pen indicates the desired position. The search is performed by brightening the screen phosphor above its usual level of brightness with a search symbol that scans the character lines to determine the line of the character and then searches for its position along that line.
