    Abstract: A device adapter is used to mount a handheld device, such as a smartphone, to the binocular tube of a microscope, such as a slit lamp. The handheld device has a camera, a device surface on one side, and a camera lens at the one side. The adapter includes a body with an abutment surface, two side grippers and a lower gripper used to secure the device against the abutment surface of the body. The device adapter also includes an adapter assembly including a camera lens opening alignable with a handheld device camera lens so that an image entering the outer end of the ocular tube with integrated optics passes through the ocular tube, through the integrated optic, and through the camera lens opening for passage into the camera lens.

    Abstract: An improved adaptor for coupling a video camera to an endoscope, borescope, or the like includes a focusing mechanism and an independent zoom or magnification variation adjustment mechanism. The zoom mechanism will move two lens groups along an optical path simultaneously, but at different speeds. Each lens groups preferably includes a pair of lenses affixed together as a doublet. By controlling the position of the doublets relative to a pair of focusing lenses, the present adaptor provides an optically compensated zoom mechanism which allows changes in the magnification of the adaptor throughout a wide magnification range without having to refocus the adaptor.

    Abstract: An electrosurgical system includes an electrode assembly which is detachably combined with an aspiration/irrigation cannula. The electrode assembly includes a shaft having an electrode tip at its distal end and a connector plug at its proximal end. A sleeve slidably and rotatably received on the proximal end of the shaft includes connecting means for securing to a proximal housing on the cannula. The system includes both the cannula and electrode assembly and is useful in performing electrosurgical procedures as part of minimally invasive surgical operations. A non-conductive cannula and valve housing are also provided which prevent capacitive coupling between the cannula and a monopole electrode.

    Abstract: An adapter system for mounting a video camera and optionally a 35-mm camera on a microscope beam splitter comprises a main body housing and a nose piece which is detachably secured in a main body housing. A plurality of lens cartridges may be mounted within the nose piece to focus light on a beam splitter mounted within the main body housing. The beam splitter provides an image along both an axial beam path and a transverse beam path relative to the main body housing. A video camera may be mounted on the transverse axis to receive and image with a magnification depending on the focal length of the lens cartridge. A 35-mm camera may be attached to the main body housing on the axial beam path to receive an image having a focally depending both on the lens cartridge as well as on a separate single or compound lens located between the beam splitter and the 35-mm camera. Conveniently, mounted rings for either a bayonet-type mount or C-type mount may be provided for receiving the video camera.
