Patents Assigned to Transilwrap Company
  • Patent number: 5058926
Abstract: A two-element lamination product for manufacture of a secure identification card that requires no insert comprises first and second resin lamination sheets, each substantially larger than the desired ID card dimensions, that are joined along one edge; the two sheets have engageable heat-and-pressure sealable surfaces and are precision cut to define two aligned, matching card panels of the desired ID card dimensions. Each card panel is joined to its sheet by plural frangible bridges. The first card panel has a transparent portion and the second an aligned, matching opaque portion with an image-receptive surface facing the first card panel; opacity may be obtained by pigmentation or by surface coating. Usually, the entire first card panel is transparent and the second card panel is all opaque.

  • Patent number: 4722376
Abstract: A dual purpose pouch, laminated under heat and pressure to provide permanent sealed protection for a permanent identification card and a protective receptacle for a temporary identification card, is cut from a sheet of transparent plastic having a hard, smooth outer surface layer and an inner adhesive layer; the blank comprises a first panel larger than either card, a second panel smaller than the first panel but at least as large as the temporary card, and a third panel of the same size as the first panel, the second and third panels being joined along first and second fold lines to different edges of the first panel.

  • Patent number: 4589942
Abstract: A method for laminating a composite assembly having outer films of plastic to provide such a composite assembly without appreciable transverse curl. The method includes the steps of preparing two oppositely facing outer films which may be of bi-axially oriented plastic. Each film may have an outer layer of a tough abrasion resistant material and an inner layer of thermoplastic bonding resin. In one embodiment, a portion of the inner layer of thermoplastic bonding resin may be coated with a strip of electrically conductive material. The inner layers of thermoplastic bonding resins are heated and the films are brought together in a common plane. In one embodiment, a central core is inserted between the converging films at spaced intervals. The outer films and the central core are laminated by passing them between first and second pairs of pressure rolls. The first and second pairs of pressure rolls are tilted at equal and opposite angles to the plane of the films.

  • Patent number: 4500382
Abstract: A method of manufacture of an article such as a corneal implant glide, formed of two resin film elements, each of which must be precision cut to a predetermined size and configuration with smooth, burr-free edges and with a narrow welded band of precisely controlled characteristics joining the two film elements along mating edges, comprises the steps of aligning two resin films in overlapping relation and constraining the films to maintain them in surface-to-surface contact with an exposed area at least as large as that required for the finished article. A laser beam of extremely small dot-like cross-section, preferably about 0.005 inch (0.127 millimeter) diameter, is directed to impinge upon the exposed area of the films and the beam is then moved, relative to the exposed film area, along a precisely controlled path corresponding to the outline of the article, including the aforementioned mating edges, to cut the two films to the precise required shape and simultaneously weld the two films together.
