  • Patent number: 9161299
Abstract: Techniques for optimizing data transmission efficiency and accuracy in cellular network environments using remote radio headers are presented. In an aspect, a mobile device includes a collection component configured to collect fiber loss data from a plurality of remote radio devices in a cellular network. The fiber loss data can include data representative of data transmission loss over fibers respectively connecting the plurality of remote radio devices to a base station device. The mobile device further includes a selection component configured to select a remote radio device from the plurality of remote radio devices with which to access based in part on the fiber loss data.

Abstract: Multiple device coordination (MDC) in a wireless communication system is described. For example, a method includes identifying, by a coordinating device associated with an entity, one or more non-coordinating devices of a network and associated with the same entity. The method also includes coordinating a single, shared radio connection to which the coordinating device and the one or more non-coordinating devices are communicatively coupled. In some instances, coordination is performed via initializing, management and/or transmission stages. For example, from a set of candidate devices, a coordinating device and the non-coordinating devices are determined during the initialization stage. The coordinating device can be selected based on any number of different factors including, but not limited to, proximity to base station, transceiver power, resources, screen size and/or based on a selection made by the entity.

  • Publication number: 20150049681
Abstract: Data transmissions between a user equipment (UE) and a serving cell of a heterogeneous network (HetNet) are efficiently scheduled based on speed data associated with the UE. In one aspect, the UE can report its speed to a serving access point. Alternatively, the serving access point can estimate the UE's speed based on information received from core network devices. In addition, to extend the battery life of the UE, the UE can report power consumption constraint data to the serving cell, which in turn can utilize the consumption constraint data to facilitate the scheduling. Moreover, based on an analysis of the speed data and the power consumption constraint data, the serving access point can determine whether dual connectivity is to be implemented and/or whether communication data is to be transmitted via an Almost Blank Sub-frame (ABS) or a non-ABS.

  • Patent number: 8958819
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to a wireless communications environment. Femto-assisted location estimation schemes can determine UE location information based on information from either macro base stations or femto base stations in a LTE-A heterogeneous network. Positions information for a femto base station can be employed even though the exact positions of fBS may not be available. The femto base station position information can be depicted as a probabilistic distribution. Bayesian estimation based on TDOA and utilization of a particle filter can facilitate determining UE location information. Furthermore, a simplified scheme can reduce computational complexity.

  • Patent number: 8929312
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to dynamic resource management for wireless network components with a wireless communications environment. Personal base stations can be deployed in a substantially uncoordinated manner resulting in conflicts among wireless radio resources. Dynamically assigning subchannel and dynamically allocating power for subchannels can reduce these conflicts. Dynamic resource management can employ combinatorial auction schema such that assignment of subchannels can be considerate of selecting a power level for performance and to minimize overlapping subchannel interference. In an aspect, several methods can be employed to reduce the computational complexity of the general integer programming problem presented. These several methods can include a Combinatorial Auction with Greedy Algorithm scheme, a Random Equal Subchannel Partition scheme, a Local Combinatorial Auction scheme, and a Neighbors' Poor Channels scheme.
