Patent number: 8445279Abstract: Facing no ethical obstacle and easily to be isolated, multipotent concretely mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are one of the most powerful tools in reconstructive medicine. Here the inventors introduced 3D multicelluar spheroids culture construction based on photolithography and micropatterning techniques to improve multipotent differentiation efficiency of MSCs to adult cells. This invention, the 3D spheroid cultured construction for MSCs, leads to great improve of the differentiation efficiency. This invention relates to a cultured cell construct comprising a support; at least one island on the support; a hydrophilic and cytophobic substance applied on the surface of said support so as to encircle the island; and a spheroid which is derived from MSCs, said spheroid being in contact with the island.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2008Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Transparent Inc.Inventors: Wenjie Wang, Keiji Itaka, Shinsuke Ohba, Nobuhiro Nishiyama, Ung-il Chung, Yuichi Yamasaki, Kazunori Kataoka

Publication number: 20110055754Abstract: A system and method of managing applications and event notifications using a cursor-based GUI, wherein the cursor-based GUI is located adjacent to the cursor and provides a user with the ability manage and monitor a plurality of dynamically updated applications, commands and event notifications via a persistent and centralized interface. Since the cursor-based GUI is persistent in nature, the plurality of applications, commands and event notifications can be accessed regardless of the user's computer environment. The user can manage user authentication requirements and other configuration information for the cursor-based GUI.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2009Publication date: March 3, 2011Applicant: Transparence, Inc. d/b/a Transparence Systems, Inc.Inventors: James J. Patent number: 7691369Abstract: Parenchymal cells are cultivated on cultivated endothelial cells or cultivated fibroblasts which have been separated by a surface of a specific hydrophilic polymer, and which have been patterned. A culture which contains thus formed patterned spheroids of cultivated parenchymal cells is thereby provided by this invention. This culture maintains a function which is specific to the parenchymal cells over a long period of time.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2008Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Transparent Inc.Inventors: Kazunori Kataoka, Hidenori Otsuka, Teruo Okano, Yukio Nagasaki, Yasuhiro Horiike

Patent number: 7548955Abstract: A method for displaying an image which can include a text or graphic message on a display driven by an electronic device that includes a graphical user interface, including the steps of storing the image at an electronic device, displaying the image in relation to a cursor icon of the graphical user interface (GUI), and moving the image as the cursor icon moves in response to user commanded movement of the cursor icon so that the image stays in relation to the cursor icon. A system and method for facilitating interactive communication between a cursor icon on a display screen of an electronic device and an image transmitted to the electronic device by an application program. A system and method that receives and manages notification alerts containing notification data from a variety of resources, and generates and distributes interactive notifications to a variety of recipients.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2008Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Transparence, Inc.Inventor: James J. Patent number: 5833058Abstract: A disposable safety bag for storage and transporting fluid containers filled with potentially hazardous liquids comprises a separate compartment for holding any spilled or leaking fluid to avoid exposure to handlers. The safety bag is characterized by fluid impermeable exterior walls forming an interior chamber with a fluid tight closure. The interior chamber is subdivided by at least one ply of one-way porous film forming a primary compartment and at least one secondary compartment for entrapping and retaining leaking hazardous liquids. The one-way porous film characterized by tapered protuberance provides one-way flow channels from the primary compartment which holds the fluid sample container. The secondary compartment also contains an absorbent material for retaining excess fluid spilled or leaking from containers in the primary compartment. The combination of one-way porous film plies and absorbent insert minimizes backflow of liquid to the primary compartment.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Flexo Transparent, Inc.Inventor: Ronald D. Mabry

Patent number: 5346312Abstract: Packaging in the form of disposable, low cost bags for cooked foods, such as chicken, fish, seafoods and hot baked specialties like pizza maintain the food in a hot crisp and appetizing condition until consumed with little or no sogginess occurring due to being in contact with water vapor/steam, condensate or residual cooking oils/fats. The bags have a nonlaminated multi-ply film composite consisting of at least a nonporous outer ply and an inner porous ply as a liner. The plies are spaced so as to provide a gap in the form of enclosed fluid reservoir for collecting and separating fluids from the food for maintaining crispness with little back flow of condensate and oils to the food compartment. Special materials and pads for absorption and retention of such fluids may be eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignees: Flexo Transparent Inc., The Unger CompanyInventors: Ronald D.
