Abstract: A clamshell packaging system having a first side portion, a second side portion, and a base portion is provided with a three-dimensional hinge structure and a standing feature. The first side portion is attached to the base portion via a first hinge joint and the second side portion is attached to the base portion via a second hinge joint wherein the second side portion is closeable upon the first side portion to provide an enclosed clamshell. The base portion further includes a third hinge joint and a fourth hinge joint each of which extends between the first hinge joint and the second hinge joint in a direction that is generally transverse to at least a portion of each of the first hinge joint and the second hinge joint. The base portion additionally has at least one flat portion disposed between the third hinge joint and the fourth hinge joint upon which the clamshell packaging system is standable.

Abstract: A self-locking package comprising a sleeve having a self-initializing locking tab and a slidable insert. The sleeve comprises a plurality of panels forming a substantially quadrilateral cross section. The locking tab extends between a top panel and a bottom panel and is offset from corners of the quadrilateral. An insert for retaining an item is at least partially insertable within an opening of the sleeve and includes a notch formed in at least one portion of the perimeter of the insert, such that when the insert is properly inserted into the sleeve, the locking tab seats within the notch to substantially prevent relative movement between the insert and the sleeve.

The sealing flange includes a series of apertures and is sandwiched between the interior surface of the front panel and the interior surface of the rear panel. Respective portions of an interior surface of the front panel and an interior surface of the rear panel are then adhered only to each other with the respective portions including portions of the interior surface of the front panel and portions of the interior surface of the rear panel that are disposed on opposite sides of the series of apertures.
