Abstract: The invention relates to a support for a detachable junction between at least two cables each one equipped with a connecting socket.According to the invention, this support comprises:a box (1,6,7,16) with a cover (17) for receiving the two joined sockets;first stop means (9) to oppose the separation of the sockets;a lock (19) with a key (22) mounted on the cover and a latch (24) mounted on the box, the lock being arranged for enabling the operation of the key and its release only when the latch cooperates with the said lock, whereas the latch can cooperate with the lock, only when the cover is in a closed position, andsecond stop means (31,32) arranged in such a way that in case at least one of the sockets is missing, it opposes the closing of the box.Application to the cable support on works site.

Abstract: A heat shrinkable plastic sleeve having an inner surface deformed in circumferentially spaced portions by unequal amounts from its normal heat stable or unstable configuration so as to provide different stresses in the circumferential direction whereby uniformity of heating of the sleeve throughout its thickness can be observed during heat shrinking by observing the shrinkage of the sleeve at its ends. Also, a method of making such sleeve in which a sleeve of heat shrinkable material is placed on a mandrel having expandable fingers, the sleeve is heated and the fingers are radially expanded and the sleeve is cooled to provide the desired sleeve.

Abstract: A junction between a pair of insulated electric cables each with a peripheral conducting screen and a protective sheath over the screen is formed by a connector which includes a junction body composed of a tubular body of insulation with tapered ends and with internal and external semiconductive layers, a conductive material, such as a metal braid or ribbon, covering the external semiconductive layer and extending beyond the ends of the tubular body and connected at its ends to the screens of the cables, and an insulating protective tube with flanges at its ends that covers most of the tubular body and the conductive material thereon. A pair of tubular caps having a snap fit at one end thereof with the flanges on the protective tube and extending over the respective cable sheaths complete the connector.

Abstract: The invention provides a sheath for protecting an electric junction between a multipole cable and a plurality of independent conductors.According to the invention, this sheath (8) is resilient and comprises, at one end, a first opening (11) by which it is fitted at the end of the multipole cable (1). The sheath (8) comprises, at its second end, several internal casings intended to receive the connecting sleeves (4) between the conductors (2) and (3). This second end is closed by an abutment wall (15) having openings (21) for passing the independent conductors (3) therethrough.

Abstract: The invention provides a rotary extrusion head comprising a head body having a sole piece and in which are formed a cylindrical through bore and a duct for supplying the material to be extruded, which extends between the sole piece and the cylindrical bore.According to the invention, this extrusion head further comprises a mandrel mounted for rotation in the cylindrical bore, a die holder fixed to a first end of the mandrel and a pinion or a pulley fixed to the second end of the mandrel, the die holder being held against the head body by means immobilizing the mandrel in translation which are mounted on the same side as the second end of the mandrel and which bear on the head body, the mandrel, the die holder and the immobilization means being bored axially.

Abstract: A device for interconnecting the conductors of an overhead, multi-conductor cable with the conductors of an underground, multi-conductor cable which protects the connections and permits them to be at the same level and which can be installed in the field without heating apparatus. The conductors of one cable are electrically and mechanically connected to the conductors of the other cable by conventional conductive clamps, and the clamps are covered by insulating, elastic, two-part sleeves which extend to the insulation of the conductors and the parts of which are interfitting. The sleeves are surrounded by a two-part, elastomeric material, protective housing, the parts of which are interfitting. The insulated conductors of the overhead conductor pass through elastic nipples which provide a watertight seal between the conductor insulation and the housing.

Abstract: A first continuously operating extruder for an extrudable material is fed with filtered such material from a second extruder through a filter and a storage tank having means for applying pressure to the material in the tank. During replacement of a filter, the second extruder is stopped, and the flow of material out of the continuously operating extruder is maintained constant by blocking the passageway between the second extruder and the tank and by applying suitable pressure to the material in the tank until the filter is removed and replaced by a new filter. The blocking device may be separate from a holder for a pair of filters, both the blocking device and the holder being movable by a fluid operable piston and cylinder. Alternatively, a separate blocking device may be omitted, and the filter holder may carry a single filter and have an impermeable portion which provides the blocking function.
