  • Patent number: 9249858
Abstract: A hydraulic engine mount is provided having at least one channel provided within the engine mount. The channel is provided fully enclosed within the engine mount. The channel includes at least two restrictions operable to partially restrict fluid flow through the channel thereby preventing unwanted noise heard by the user. The at least two restrictions include at least one protrusion extending away from a side wall of the channel. Two protrusions are provided to form each restriction where the protrusions are opposed and spaced apart extending into the channel. The at least one protrusion includes at least one sloped wall. The at least one sloped wall is disposed upstream of the fluid through the channel and may be positioned adjacent to an inlet or an outlet of the channel.

  • Patent number: 8505887
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved Micro Cellular Urethane (hereinafter ‘MCU’) bump stop/spring aid having a plurality of struts adapted to level the rate transition as sections are folded onto one another. MCU bump stops/spring aids are well known in the art to assist vehicle suspension systems. More particularly, bump stops/spring aids are frequently used with vehicle suspension systems in connection with shocks and strut assemblies. These assemblies provide a comfortable ride in addition to influencing the control and handling of the vehicle. The struts are positioned around the circumference of the MCU bump stop/spring aid. The added struts between the undercuts partially support the outer surfaces of the MCU bump stop/spring aid. Struts are generally molded between the outer surfaces. Struts may also be molded on an inner surface. The plurality of struts improves upon existing technology by improving performance characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8459621
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of bonding suspension components which creates strong and durable bonding layer by using a chemical coating compatible with MCU. The bonding material uses coating materials to form an intermediated property bonding layer. This bonding layer prevents corrosion on the metal suspension components. The coating has the correct chemical activity to chemically bond MCU at the molecular level during the standard curing reaction. The coating provides an intermediated property layer to improve cyclic fatigue bonding performance, and bond effectively during molding and manufacturing operations.

  • Patent number: 8356806
Abstract: An improved hydraulic engine mount includes a main rubber element of one piece construction. The main rubber element includes an upper portion, an intermediate portion, and a lower portion. The lower portion includes an interlocking seal portion. The hydraulic engine mount includes an upper housing and a lower housing. The interlocking seal portion includes an upper protrusion operable to fit within an upper groove of the upper housing to fit together to form a tight locking seal. The upper housing further includes an upper protrusion operable to connect to an upper groove of the main rubber element. The upper groove of the main rubber element is annular and extends around the lower portion of the main rubber element. The lower portion of the main rubber element further includes a generally axially extending second protrusion abutting both the upper housing and the lower housing.

  • Publication number: 20120256075
Abstract: A cradle mount assembly for use in vehicle is provided including at least two inserts having at least two rate plates connected to each respective insert. The rate plates connected to the inserts by means of a connection or structural portion. A mold provided to mold plastic, polymer or other suitable material around the at least one insert and the at least one rate plate. The mold having structure capable of accepting the connection or structural portion connecting the at least one rate plate to the at least one insert. A method is further provided for the molding process including the steps of connecting the at least one insert and the at least one rate plate to the mold by means of the connection or structural portion. The mold is then formed around the at least one insert and the at least one rate plate.
