Abstract: A vibration damped enclosure comprises side walls and a vibration damping plate structure which extends across the enclosure and is attached to internal surface portions of a first and a second side walls. The vibration damping plate structure (2) comprises a non-rigid layer (12) sandwiched between two rigid layers (13, 14), wherein each rigid layer between the first and second side walls (5, 6) comprises at least one cut (15, 16) through the rigid layer (13, 14) which makes the extension of each rigid layer between the first and second sidewalls (5, 6) discontinuous.
Abstract: A cutting line partially through a multilayer plate structure (1) comprising at least one rigid layer (6, 7) attached to a non-rigid layer (5) is formed by punching in one operation a cutting edge (15) through at least the rigid layer the leaving at least one layer (7) of the multilayer plate structure (1) uncut. During the cutting operation, the rigid layer is gripped by lateral position retaining means (16) to prevent lateral movement of the rigid layer.
Abstract: Anti-squeal shim (100) comprising a fibre reinforced vibration insulating layer (110) and a vibration absorbing layer (120), the fibre reinforced vibration insulating layer comprises reinforcement fibres, a filler material and a binder material. There is also provided a method of producing anti-squeal shims, and a method of preventing squeal noise from a disc brake.
