Abstract: Packages are manufactured in a digitally controlled process. A digital printing machine (101) produces printed workpieces and a cutting machine (104) cuts packaging blanks (105) from them. A conveyor line (107) transfers the printed work-pieces automatically from the digital printing machine (101) to the cutting machine (104). A digital control system (109) exchanges digital control information with at least the digital printing machine (101) and the cutting machine (104).

Abstract: A method for mounting and dismounting a doctor blade chamber in a support holder on a printing unit as well as an apparatus in which the doctor blade chamber is placed in the support holder in a mounting position and subsequently is brought in contact with a roller, preferably, an anilox roller, in a position of operation. The method and the apparatus advantageously have the doctor blade chamber disposed with the opening upwards in the support holder, preferably in a horizontal position or in a position at such a small angle that ink does not run out of the doctor blade chamber, and is brought into a position under the roller, after which the doctor blade chamber is brought into contact with the roller and pivoted about an axis coinciding with the rotary axis of the roller, into the position of operation.

Abstract: There is disclosed a printing unit (1) for use in an offset machine. The printing unit allows a broader use of offset machines (1). This is achieved in that the lacquer application means and the water application means comprise a unit (28) consisting of a doctor blade chamber device (30) and at least one roller (29, 32) for transferring lacquer or water from the doctor blade chamber device (30) to the plate cylinder (15) of the printing unit.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for cleaning a cylinder surface. The method is particularly suitable for use on flexographic printing cylinders where the automatic cleaning apparatus facilitates the cleaning of plate cylinders or on any type of cylinders. The method comprises detaching particles such as dust, fibers and other foreign objects deposited on the cylinder surface by means of pressurized fluid of air, liquid, ultrasound or other suitable media. After the particles have been detached, the cylinder surface is exposed to a vacuum unit whereby the detached particles and other material deriving from the cleaning medium are sucked off the surface of the cylinder. The advantage is that, in many cases, it will not be necessary to halt the printing process for cleaning the cylinder. The apparatus comprises a cleaning head or pipes capable of providing the pressurized fluid to the cylinder surface and removing any particles detached from the cylinder surface while the cylinder is in normal operation.
