    Abstract: A slat apparatus for use with a chain link fence for providing privacy, wind protection and/or decoration includes a plurality of slat members for positioning in slat receiving channels formed by linking wires of the fence. Each slat member includes a substantially rigid elongated hollow body member having curved side members, at least a pair of curved longitudinal ribs therein and a pair of flexible and resilient wing portions positioned on opposite sides thereof. The ribs in the rigid elongated body member prevents crimping of the fence slat when installed in a chain link fence.

    Abstract: A cap liner and method for producing a cap liner which is particularly suited for use with a cap employed on a hot filled container. The liner includes a disc having one or more outer layers and an intermediate foamed layer bonded thereto. Preferably, the outer layer is formed of a copolymer of polypropylene and polyethylene. The intermediate layer can include a homogeneous admixture of polypropylene and polyethylene or an admixture of polyethylene, a copolymer of polyethylene and polypropylene and ethylene vinyl acetate. One method for producing the cap liner involves mechanically mixing at room temperature polypropylene and polyethylene to form a desired homogeneous admixture for each layer, and then co-extruding the admixtures at approximately 320.degree.-415.degree. F. to form the bonded outer and intermediate layers. Another method involves extruding the copolymer outer layer to the intermediate layer admixture to form the bonded cap liner.

Each slat member includes a substantially rigid elongated body member and a pair of flexible and resilient wing portions positioned on opposite sides thereof. The combined width of the wing portions is approximately equal to or greater than the width of the body member to enable easy installation of the slats and to provide complete privacy in a neat and uniform manner. The slat apparatus preferably is formed by co-extrusion of a substantially rigid plastic material for the body member and a flexible and resilient plastic material for the wing portions.

The slats have apertures extending laterally therethrough rearwardly of the wing portions. The slat apertures are laterally aligned and a flexible belt extends through the apertures to retain the slats in parallel relation on the fence. The wing portions are of less thickness than the slats.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for hermetically sealing a container having an open top. The process of this invention employs a novel cap liner comprising a backing layer consisting of thermoplastic material, a sealing layer and a bond layer between the backing layer and the sealing layer. The process comprises the steps of: providing a cap adapted to engage the open top of a container; providing a novel cap liner of this invention; inserting the cap liner into the cap; securing the cap to the container such that the sealing layer of the cap liner contacts the container and extends across the open top of the container; and bonding the sealing layer of the cap liner to the container to produce a hermetically sealed container.

The resulting sandwich is extruded through an extrusion die forming an integral plastic sandwich with the heat of the foamed plastic layer causing a partial melting.
