  • Patent number: 6499439
Abstract: A sight glass assembly for a water heater flame trap and a method of making same is disclosed. A rectangular-shaped sight glass frame casing being comprised of a thin metal plate further comprising a rounded rectangular cut-out window and two metal tabs on opposite sides of the casing acting as a retainer to hold the planar transparent material of the sight window tight to the rectangular-shaped gasket. The metal frame casing of the sight glass assembly attaches to the exterior of the flame trap compartment of the hot water heater by: (a) either inserting the tabs, further comprising metal clips, into the gasket whereby they expand, locking the metal frame casing in place; or in a second embodiment (b) riveting the tabs, now in the shape of a flange, directly to the hot water heater shell. The metal frame casing is formed by a metal stamping procedure that allows for easier and more economic manufacture of the sight glass retainer.

  • Patent number: 5261145
Abstract: A reusable openable/closeable clamp comprising an arcuate-like strap having two generally opposing, spaced ends, each of which has been bent outwardly of the general periphery of the clamp to form first and second ears with one of the ears having an aperture therein and the other of the ears having a projection thereon extending outwardly from its respective ear, with the projection being adapted to be received in the aperture in the closed condition of the clamp to hold the strap in closed clamping condition, said strap further having at least two raised segments forming a restraining means between said segments. Removal of the projection from the aperture enables the clamp to spring to open position due to the natural resiliency of the strap portion.

  • Patent number: 4388748
Abstract: A band clamping device including a frame having an elongated planar base and a pair of spaced parallel side walls extending upwardly from the sides of the base. A rotary winding shaft extends transversely across the frame and is rotatably mounted in the side walls. The shaft has ratchet teeth disposed circumferentially around its circumference adjacent one end of the shaft interiorly of the spaced walls to form a ratchet wheel on the shaft. The elongated base has an extension at one end bent over upwardly partially upon itself with a part of the free end of the bent over portion forming a resilient pawl operatively and resiliently engaging the teeth of the ratchet wheel for releasably holding the shaft from rotating. A flexible clamping band is provided for encircling an associated object to be clamped and is secured at one end to the base.
