  • Patent number: 6031451
Abstract: An electrical circuit for turn signal, hazard signal, and brake signal lights of an automotive vehicle has first and second relays each having an energizable coil and contacts which are in a first configuration when the coil is not energized and a second configuration when the coil is energized. A brake signal switch is operable to supply relative high steady electrical current to the first and second relay contacts, the contacts of the first relay when in the first configuration conducting the relative high steady electrical current to left rear light and the contacts of the second relay when in the first configuration conducting the relative high steady electrical current to a right rear light.

  • Patent number: 5964025
Abstract: A rail forming part of a backing strip for a windshield wiper squeegee is formed from a blank comprising a flat metal strip of narrow width. The metal strip is deformed to create an offset portion that extends transversely on a longitudinal axis of the strip so as to protrude on one side of the flat metal strip and a claw retention notch is edge-punched from the offset portion. At least one pair of rubber squeegee-retaining barb elements is formed from the flat metal strip on the side opposite from the offset portion proximate to the claw retention notch, the barb elements being longitudinally spaced from each other on the metal strip with the claw retention notch disposed between at least two barb elements so that pressure applied to the windshield wiper through the superstructure and transmitted by a claw retained in the claw retention notch to the rail urges the outwardly extending barb elements into engagement with the squeegee.

  • Patent number: 5933910
Abstract: A retainer clip comprising a hollow body or cap for receiving the end portion of an associated backing strip. The body is formed with flanges which locate in respective grooves of the backing strip. Legs with a latch portion to locate a claw termination of a windshield wiper superstructure extend from the flanges in a longitudinal direction and are also received in the longitudinally-extending grooves of the backing strip.

  • Patent number: 5915739
Abstract: A retention device is provided for positioning and retaining an open generally cylindrical hose clamp on a selected hose. The device extends generally about a longitudinal axis and has a retainer and a locator spaced axially from the retainer in side-by-said relationship. The locator and retainer are coupled together and the locator is adapted to hold the clamp while the retainer is adapted to engage the hose to maintain the device in position on the hose. As a result, the clamp can be positioned orthogonally relative to the hose and the assembly is then ready for engagement on a rigid tubular fitting with the locator positioned on the hose remote from the tubular fitting. This permits the hose to be engaged over the tubular fitting with no direct resistance from the retention device.

  • Patent number: 5855044
Abstract: A clamping device is provided for use in applying radial compressive loading on a deformable tube to retain the tube on a fixed tubular element. The device includes a central portion and first and second interengaged end portions with the first end portion having parallel side pieces and a pair of outwardly extending legs dependent one from each of the side pieces. The legs are spaced apart and a bridge extends between the legs outwardly of the legs. The second end portion has a central piece extending between the legs of the first end portion and including a radial projection extending outwardly from the end of the central piece and defining an outwardly facing step.

  • Patent number: 5836042
Abstract: A modular support frame for a windshield wiper drive having integrally formed mounting brackets for securing the frame to a vehicle body, and integrally formed pivot bosses for pivot drive shafts connected to windshield wiper arms. A motor carrier for supporting a motor drive coupled to a linkage for rotating the wipers is integrated into the frame. The motor carrier has an end plate integrally formed with the frame which is transverse to a longitudinal axis defined by the motor shaft and which is apertured for receiving the motor shaft. An integrally formed splash cover extends outwardly on one side of the end plate, so as to partly cover a housing for the motor drive, the splash cover defining a longitudinally-extending opening adapted to axially receive the motor drive for assembly into the support frame. The arrangement facilitate assembly of the motor drive directly into the support frame where it can easily be accessed for servicing.

  • Patent number: 5820166
Abstract: The invention provides a positioning device engaged loosely on a prestressed hose clamp to locate and orientate the hose clamp on a hose. The device is adapted to engage about the clamp and has inwardly facing pegs which serve both to locate the device loosely on the clamp and to engage the hose to bias the clamp into engagement with the hose thereby holding the clamp orthogonally with respect to the hose.

  • Patent number: 5724693
Abstract: A hollow mounting hub is used to mount the tool to an extruder head and a plunger with a stop at one end extends longitudinally through the hub. The plunger reciprocates the plunger between a retracted position in which the plunger is housed in the hub and an extended position in which the plunger protrudes from the hub so that it may abut with extrudate lodged in an extruder head. Extrudate is dislodged in an extended position of the plunger with the stop remote from the mounting hub.

  • Patent number: 5675871
Abstract: The invention provides a locating device for locating and holding a prestressed hose clamp on a cylindrical hose having a selected radius of curvature. The device has a resilient C-shaped clamp engaging element having opposed free ends defining a gap, the element being generally cylindrical about a first axis and the gap being smaller than an internal diameter of the element so that the clamp can be pushed through the gap and gripped by the element with radial projections on the clamp extending through the gap. A pair of resilient hose engaging elements are attached to the clamp engaging element and spaced axially spaced with the clamp engaging element between the hose engaging elements which are proportioned to apply a load on the hose contained in the device to bias the hose away from the gap and into contact with the clamp at a location diametrically opposite the radial projections.
