Publication number: 20130149367Abstract: The invention provides a novel method for producing an antitoxic nonwoven fabric by molecularly grafting the antitoxic molecule thereto. The method comprises immersing a fibrous media comprising a material having a melt flow index of less than 150 MFI in a stable antitoxin solution comprising an antitoxin, preferably triiodide. The wet media is processed through rollers, thereby forcing the antitoxic molecule (e.g., iodine) to penetrate the media. The wet media is dried, and the fabric isolated therefrom. The invention further provides products incorporating the antitoxic media formed by this molecularly grafting method, including a wound dressing, surgical drape, privacy curtain, facemask, gown, article of protective clothing, shoe covering, hair covering, air filter, medical tape, and wipe.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2012Publication date: June 13, 2013Applicant: TRIOMED INNOVATIONS CORP.Inventor: TrioMed Innovations Corp.

Publication number: 20130039968Abstract: The invention provides a novel method of generating fabrics with outstanding antitoxic properties. The antitoxic properties are imparted to the fabric by introducing an active agent such as an antimicrobial or antiviral agent to the fabric. The active agent may be introduced into the fabric at multiple stages of the manufacturing process. For nonwoven fabrics, the active agent can be introduced during web formation and/or during post-processing steps. The fabrics produced in accordance with the present invention have widespread utility. For instance, they can be used as wound dressings, gowns, drapes, air filters, protective clothing and wipes.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: TRIOMED INNOVATIONS CORP.Inventors: Pierre Jean Messier, David Ohayon

Publication number: 20120042427Abstract: A medical glove and other elastomeric healthcare products are provided. The glove includes a base comprised of an elastomeric polymer; a barrier coating over the base; a secondary coating over the barrier coating; and a plurality of iodinated resin particulates anchored to the secondary coating. A method of coating an elastomeric material is also provided, which includes: (a) providing a base elastomer comprised of an elastomeric polymer; (b) dipping the elastomer in a first organic solution containing a polymer to form a barrier coating; (c) dipping the elastomer in a second organic solution containing a polymer to form a secondary coating over the barrier coating; (d) dipping the elastomer in an a suspension containing iodinated resin particulates in an organic solvent to anchor the particulates to the secondary coating; and (e) drying the elastomer.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2011Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: TrioMed Innovations Corp.Inventor: Pierre J. Messier

Publication number: 20120027715Abstract: The disclosure relates to polymer films containing iodinated resin, where such films have advantageous antibacterial and/or antitoxic properties. The films may be used, for example, in medical tape, wound dressings and bandages. In certain embodiments, the invention is also directed to methods of manufacturing such polymer films, where various manufacturing difficulties have been addressed and overcome.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 1, 2011Publication date: February 2, 2012Applicant: TRIOMED INNOVATIONS CORP.Inventors: Pierre J. Messier, David Ohayon

Patent number: 8091551Abstract: There is provided a protective media and a method of manufacturing the same. In one aspect, the protective media includes a porous dielectric carrier, an active agent incorporated in the porous dielectric carrier, and an electrostatic charge across at least a portion of the porous dielectric carrier. This innovative media is capable of eradicating microorganisms and/or toxins more efficiently than prior art solutions and can also self sterilize.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: TrioMed Innovations Corp.Inventor: Pierre Messier

Patent number: 8071713Abstract: The invention provides a novel method for manufacturing iodinated resin particulates that have widespread utility as disinfectants. The invention also provides novel iodinated demand disinfectant iodinated resins that have superior properties than resins known in the art. The novel manufacturing process of the current invention is highly efficient and environmentally friendly and is conducted without the presence of water. Additionally, the manufacturing process produces iodinated resins that have better overall biological performance than resins produced by prior art methods owing to higher degrees of iodine in the manufactured resin particulates and higher degrees of uniformity of iodine content when comparing particulate to particulate.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2009Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: TrioMed Innovations Corp.Inventors: Pierre J.
