Abstract: An electrical connector assembly including a plug portion and a receptacle portion. The plug portion includes a coupling nut and a key. The key includes a projection and a flat surface, and is free to rotate relative to the coupling nut. The receptacle portion includes a flat surface and raceway for receiving the projection to allow threaded mating of the receptacle and plug portions.
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) including a body (2) and a switch (10) disposed within an annular cavity (180) in the body and adjacent an annular opening (184) in the body. The switch has leads (162,164) connected to an electric circuit for controlling connection of an electrical signal to a center conductor of the connector. The body includes a bore (161) therein leading from an exterior surface of the body to the annular cavity. The bore is adapted in size to receive conductors (162,164) connected to the leads of the switch (10). The conductors connect the switch leads to the electric circuit for controlling application of the electrical signal to the center conductor (18) of the connector.
Abstract: An electrical connector including an outer shell, and an integral rotatable cam shell positioned over the outer shell. The cam shell has at least one switch actuating cam extending radially from an outer surface thereof. Upon mating of the connector with a mating connector assembly, the cam shell is rotated to cause the cam to contact a switch and thereby change the switch from an open state wherein current flow through the connector is interrupted to a closed state wherein current is allowed to flow through the connector and the mating connector. Preferably, the connector further includes a spring positioned between the outer shell and the cam shell. The spring biases the cam shell against the outer shell axially in a direction away from the mating connector.
Abstract: An electrical connector including a connector body having a first end and a second end, an axially movable sleeve disposed within the body, and at least one switch actuating pin in contact with the sleeve and axially movable therewith. A first end of the switch body is adapted to removably receive a mating connector for creating an electrical connection between the connector and the mating connector. Upon mating of the first end of the body with the mating connector, a portion of the mating connector contacts the sleeve and moves the sleeve axially within the body in the direction of the second end of the body. Movement of the sleeve causes corresponding movement of the switch actuating pin whereby a first end of the switch actuating pin extends outward from the body. The connector may be positioned adjacent a normally open switch with one terminal of the switch connected to a center conductor the connector and the other terminal of the switch being connected to an electrical signal source.
