Patents Assigned to TSL, Incorporated
  • Patent number: 5370763
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a tamper evident informational article such as a temporary vehicle registration which may be made of paper or paperboard. The informational article has a zone for inserting information and a pattern within said zone which will resist effective counterfeiting. A transparent tape which preferably has a silicone resin coating which contains a wax is adhesively secured over information contained within the zone.

  • Patent number: 5137208
Abstract: The invention provides a package for packaging of products which provides evidence of tampering with or adulteration of the product by providing a readily visible indication that any such tampering or adulteration has occurred. The invention in one form provides an inner container which is in turn at least partially covered with a tamper evident packaging material. The packaging material is a tamper evident composite material comprising a photopolymerizable composition layer which is cured and it becomes extremely brittle such that any physical penetration of this packaging material will cause the brittle layer to fracture or shatter. Such shattering will provide a clear indication that penetration of the packaging material has occurred. Also there may be provided an asociated dye which will exhibit a color change when the brittle layer is fractured or shattered.

  • Patent number: 5028290
Abstract: A method of applying a tamper evident label to a package including the steps of depositing a liquid resin on a carrier tape and then treating the liquid resin to produce a label having an adhesive portion. The label is separated from the carrier tape and the adhesive portion is secured to the package. The label is then cured to create a tamper evident label on the package. An associated apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4998989
Abstract: A resilient closure snap fit onto a container having an end wall provided with a plurality of transverse grooves. A resin is deposited on the top surface of the end wall and into the grooves. If the closure is removed from the container, the top layer of resin and a portion of the resin in the grooves will fracture, thus indicating to the consumer that tampering with the container has occurred. In another embodiment, the closure comprises a rotatable portion and a fixed portion. The rotatable and fixed portion have grooves which are filled with a resin. When the rotatable portion is pivoted away from the fixed portion to open the container, a portion of the resin fractures, thus indicating tampering with the container. In another embodiment, the tamper evident closure comprises a closure body having an end wall and a skirt depending from the end wall and a closure lid movably secured to the closure body. The end wall and the closure lid define an upwardly open recess.

  • Patent number: 4945708
Abstract: The invention provides a package and associated method for packaging of products which enhances the resistance to tampering with or adulteration of the product, and which also permits a readily visible indication that any such tampering or adulteration has occurred. The invention in one form provides an inner container which is in turn provided with an outer protective layer of epoxide resin. The outer layer is cured and it becomes extremely brittle such that any physical penetration of the outer layer will cause the entire outer layer to shatter. Such shattering will provide a clear indication that penetration of the protective layer has occurred. Also there may be provided an associated dye which will exhibit a color change when the outer protective layer is shattered. A warning message may be provided on said packaging underlying the outer layer.

  • Patent number: 4928837
Abstract: The tamper evident closure is a resilient closure which is snap fit onto a container. The resilient closure has an end wall with a plurality of transverse grooves. A resin is deposited on the top surface of the end wall and into the grooves. If the closure is moved away from the container, the top layer of resin and a portion of the resin in the grooves will fracture, thus indicating to the consumer that tampering with the container has occurred. A portion of the resin will remain in the grooves to indicate that the resin was applied when the closure was initially sealed. In another embodiment, the closure comprises a rotatable portion and a fixed portion. The rotatable and fixed portion have grooves which contain a resin. When the rotatable portion is pivoted away fromt he fixed portion to open the container, a portion of the resin fractures, thus indicating tampering with the container. A portion of the resin also remains in the grooves.
