  • Publication number: 20100137085
Abstract: In a timing chain driving system in which the speed of a driving sprocket fluctuates cyclically, the tooth pitch of a driven sprocket from which a tension span of the chain travels toward the driving sprocket varies cyclically around the circumference of the driven sprocket so that the tooth pitch at the point at which the timing chain disengages from the driven sprocket is at a minimum when the rotational speed of the driving sprocket is maximum, moderating fluctuations in chain tension. A similar effect can be achieved in the case of a driving sprocket having a cyclically varying tooth pitch by arranging the driving sprocket so that its tooth pitch is maximum at the point at which it is engaged by the chain when its rotational speed is maximum.

  • Patent number: 7686718
Abstract: In the timing drive of an internal combustion engine, cyclic variations in chain tension, in the span traveling from a camshaft sprocket toward the crankshaft sprocket are leveled by synchronous reciprocating movement of a guide in sliding contact with that span of chain. The maximum rearward speed of the guide coincides approximately with the maximum tension in the span of chain, and the maximum forward speed of the guide coincides approximately with the minimum tension in the chain.

  • Publication number: 20100069188
Abstract: In a silent chain having interleaved joint link plates and guide link plates each having a pair of teeth and a pair of pin holes, the pin holes in each of the joint link plate are elongated in the direction of elongation of the chain, and extend toward each other from the two connecting pins extending through the pin holes so that a gap is formed between each of the two connecting pins and the other. The pin holes of each of the toothed guide link plates are circular pin holes. The elongation of the pin holes of the joint link plates allows the joint links to shift longitudinally with respect to the guide link plates on engagement of the chain with a sprocket, reducing clashing noise.

  • Publication number: 20100044190
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide a hoisting and lowering driving engagement multi-row chain in which the weight of the chain is balanced across the chain width direction so as to improve the load balance. This allows the weight of articles to be hoisted and lowered more stably hoisted and at higher positions, and results in an improvement of endurance of the chain, reduction of driving noise, miniaturization of the chain size, while the biasing or deflecting of intermediate tooth plates and inner tooth plates in the chain width direction is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7641575
Abstract: The check valve unit of a hydraulic tensioner comprises a check ball, a ball guide and a disc-shaped retainer. The retainer is fixed to the high pressure oil chamber side of the ball guide by crimping an annular portion of the ball guide over the outer edge of the retainer so that substantially all of an annular circumferential portion of the high pressure chamber side of the retainer is held underneath the crimped portion of the ball guide. The crimped portion of the ball guide forms a recess for receiving and positioning a plunger-biasing spring. A ball seat is similarly secured to the inflow side of the ball guide by crimping.
