    Abstract: A mispicked weft removing method keeps a mispicked weft continuous with a weft remaining in the main picking nozzle of the loom, and inserts the weft additionally in the shed so that the weft extends in a loop in the shed, and then places a yarn guide in the loop of the weft, and pulls the weft toward the picking side. Since the mispicked weft is pulled via the yarn guide toward the picking side of the loom, a pulling force applied to the weft to remove the mispicked weft from the shed is effectively available for separating the mispicked weft from the cloth fell.

A controlled factor or factors corresponding to a controllable variable or variables from among those of the profit evaluation function, namely, the operating speed of the loom, the pressure of the picking fluid or both the operating speed of the loom and the pressure of the picking fluid, are controlled so that the profit evaluation value is increased to a maximum.

In operation, one end of the weft yarn is sucked in the extracting unit by the agency of an air current and is gripped by gripping members. Then, the gripping members are rotated to extract the weft yarn by winding the weft yarn around the gripping members, while the extracting unit is turned about an axis by the second shifting unit to separate the weft yarn from the cloth fell.

    Abstract: A picking controller for an air jet loom having a main picking nozzle which jets air to pick a weft yarn into a shed, and groups of subnozzles which jet air to help the picked weft yarn run along a picking path, includes a phase angle detector for detecting the phase angle of the air jet loom and a weft yarn arrival detector for detecting the arrival of the free end of the picked weft yarn at an arrival position. It also includes a memory for storing actual arrival phase angles of the picked weft yarns with respect to the phase angle of the air jet loom and a variation detector for determining arrival phase angle variations. A comparator compares the phase angle variations with a predetermined target phase angle variation and provides a signal representing the result of the comparison. A picking condition setting unit sequentially varies the picking condition of the groups of subnozzles according to the signal from the comparator representing the result of comparison.

    Abstract: An automatic picking regulating method and an apparatus for carrying out the same are applied to controlling the sequential air jetting operation of the auxiliary nozzle groups of an air jet loom. The auxiliary nozzle groups are arranged along a picking path to jet air so as to assist a picked weft yarn in running along the picking path. The respective jet phase angles of the auxiliary nozzle groups are regulated automatically according to the acutal running speed of the picked weft yarn. The acutal running characteristics of the picked weft yarn are determined on the basis of a holding pin retraction phase angle, namely, a weft yarn release phase angle, and an acutal yarn arrival phase angle measured at a position on the yarn arrival side of the air jet loom, and are represented by a graph showing the relationship between the phase angle of the main shaft of the air jet loom and the picking distance.

    Abstract: Multiple-color air jet looms successively insert different kinds of weft threads into warp sheds to weave a fabric of desired construction. The different weft threads are subjected to different resistances to their being drawn through a main nozzle and are carried on air jets under different conditions, so that the weft threads will be inserted unstably at different speeds. With the arrangement of the invention, selected weft threads for insertion are carried, one at a time, through the warp shed under respective different weft carrying forces suited for the weft threads. The different weft carrying forces may be produced by varying pressures at which air is ejected, intervals of time during which air is ejected under pressure, or the manner in which subnozzles are positioned along the warp shed. There is provided a control means for changing the air pressures and ejection time intervals in synchronism with operation of the air jet loom.

    Abstract: Jet looms have feelers for detecting whether a weft yarn has been properly inserted through a warp shed at an end of the warp shed.Air jet looms have photoelectric feelers the sensitivity of which becomes lowered with time due to dust or fly waste attached to the feelers in operation. Water jet looms incorporate electrode feelers with insulation therebetween tending to be deteriorated due to water applied, and hence the sensitivity of such feelers is also reduced with time.An apparatus according to the present invention increases the gain of a variable-gain amplifier for amplifying an output signal from the feeler as the level of the output signal is lowered, so that the amplified signal is maintained at a suitable level.
