  • Patent number: 5219187
Abstract: A pipe connection having a protective interior coating, with the integrity thereof being maintained during assembly of the pipe connection by welding. This is achieved by the use of a heat deflecting material that prevents damage to the interior coating from heat generated incident to welding at the weld-affected zone. During assembly of the pipe connection, mating, coacting compressible materials are brought into engagement and thereby compressed to ensure a fluid barrier along the pipe connection after assembly by welding.

  • Patent number: 5033512
Abstract: A replacement pipe section for a defective pipeline that includes two tubular members telescopically assembled so that the assembly has an adjustable overall length. The replacement pipe section includes a collar that can be disposed around and attached to both tubular members, thereby fixing the overall length of the assembly. The ends of the replacement section can then be attached to the fixed open ends of the pipeline to create a fluid-tight assembly. The replacement pipe section is particularly effective for permanently replacing a defective section of an internally coated pipeline.

  • Patent number: 4955645
Abstract: A gauging device and method for use in coupling threaded tubular articles including tubes and couplings. The device and method provides for the use of gauges for the tube and coupling that provide markings thereon that when in register during coupling indicate when a preselected threading distance has been achieved. A coupling assembly is provided that employs an annular gasket attached to the coupling and adapted to be deformed by the end of a tube when inserted into the coupling to provide sealing.

  • Patent number: 4913465
Abstract: A coupled pipe assembly having a pair of opposed, axially positioned pipes each having opposed beveled ends and interior corrosion-resistant linings. A sleeve having heat-insulating material is inserted axially within the pipes with the heat-insulating material being positioned adjacent the opposed pipe ends to protect the corrosion-resistant linings from heat produced during the welding of the pipe ends. The sleeve has a uniform, continuous diameter along the entire length thereof.

  • Patent number: 4856828
Abstract: A coupling assembly having an annular coupling with internal threads in threaded engagement with external threads on opposed tubes inserted into the coupling. An annular gasket of rigid material is mounted between and in engagement with opposed ends of the tubes within the coupling. This gasket has a continuous radial portion extending between these opposed ends of the tubes and a pair of opposed flanges extending from opposite sides of the continuous radial portion and into contact with an interior marginal portion of the opposed tubing ends. Sealing is provided between the opposed ends of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4827680
Abstract: An abrasive cleaning device that includes a nozzle assembly and method wherein a low pressure stream of abrasive particles and gas, and a high pressure stream of liquid are provided. These streams intersect an an angle sufficient to entrain the abrasive particles within the high pressure liquid stream. The abrasive particles are directed into contact with a surface to be abraded. The intersecting of the streams occurs outside the nozzle assembly.

  • Patent number: 4620152
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for compensating the output signal of a reflection type eddy current probe so as to minimize the change in the phase shift of the probe output signal that otherwise would occur as a result of a change in the spacing of the probe from the surface of the metal sample being inspected or investigated.
