Abstract: Disclosed is a video card (120) which comprises a substantially rectangular, sheetlike component support(29) with a lower edge (21) and a rear edge (22). The video card (120) has a first edge connector (25) formed as a projecting portion (23) starting from the lower edge (21) of the component support (29), which projecting portion (23) is provided with terminals (24). The video card (120) further has a sub-D connector (26) provided with terminals (28), arranged at the rear edge (22) of the component support (29). According to the present invention, the video card (120) further has a second edge connector (130) formed as a projecting portion (131) starting from the lower edge (21) of the component support (29), which projecting portion (131) is provided with terminals (132), and the terminals (28) of the sub-D connector (26) are coupled to terminals (132) of the second edge connector (130).
Abstract: For the purpose of protecting a computer, the cover or the door (2) thereof, by which the computer housing can be closed, comprises a lock (8) operable by a key (9) and having a latch element (11) which in a first position prevents both the operation of the on/off switch (3) of the computer and the opening of the cover or the door, in a second position does not prevent the operation of the on/off switch but does prevent the opening of the cover or the door, and in a third position enables both the operation of the switch and the opening of the housing.
Abstract: By placing the riser card comprising connectors for both ISA and IPC expansion cards in a connector arranged on the side of the motherboard of a computer of the AT type rather than in a connector arranged centrally of the motherboard, a large number of advantages are obtained: the routing of PCI signals is shortened; the cooling within the computer housing is improved; the components on the PCI expansion cards come to lie at the top of the card; the case for the computer can be simplified and there is no longer any connector arranged centrally of the motherboard which made the through-connection between components on opposite sides thereof rather difficult.
Abstract: A device for enciphering and deciphering with the aid of the DES algorithm data to be written to or read from a hard disk, wherein the input of a DES cipher device (25) is coupled, via a converter (26) for converting data words having a word width of 16 bits to data words having a word width of 64 bits, to a bus for transferring data words having a word width of 16 bits to and from a central processor unit, and to a bus for transferring data words having a word width of 16 bits to and from a disk storage unit and wherein the output of the DES cipher device is coupled, via a multiplexer (27) for converting data words having a word width of 64 bits to data words having a word width of 16 bits, to the bus of the central processor unit and to the bus of the disk storage unit.

Abstract: A printed circuit board for connecting, in n different ways, connection pins of an integrated circuit mounted in a dual-in-line (DIL) package to printed circuitry on the printed circuit board, where n is an integer .gtoreq.2. The printed circuit board comprises contact holes which are electrically connected to the printed circuitry and are each suitable for receiving a connection pin of the DIL package. To avoid the use of so-called jumper blocks for the different ways of connection, the contact holes form a matrix of p columns and q rows, with p being at least equal to the number of connection pins on a long side of the DIL package, q being at least equal to 2n, and the distance between successive rows of contact holes being such that n-1 rows of free contact holes are located between the rows of connection pins on the opposite long sides of the DIL package when these rows of connection pins have been mounted in two rows of contact holes.
Abstract: Method and device for enciphering data words of a word width of n bits, in particular data words to be written in a computer storage, wherein a product cipher circuit comprises alternately one from a plurality of permutation boxes with n inputs and n outputs and one from a plurality of substitution boxes with n inputs and n outputs, each of these boxes being under the control of a specific part of an m-bits key. In the product cipher circuit the data words are consecutively enciphered in whole and the enciphering device can be regarded as a delay line. The data words to be enciphered can be combined with coding words which depend on the specific sector of the computer storage, in particular a hard storage disk unit, where the data words are stored. The sector-specific coding words and/or the m-bits key can be combined with a key to be entered by a user.
