  • Patent number: 11512265
Abstract: A water-based graphene dispersion is made by shear stabilization. The method of preparing the water-based graphene dispersion using shear stabilization includes adding a composition containing a graphene powder, a super wetter surfactant and a water dispersible rheology agent into water to form an aqueous mixture; and shearing the aqueous mixture under high pressures to break down the thick layers of the graphene powder to thin layers of graphene platelet particles and to form the water-based graphene dispersion with the graphene platelet particles dispersed in the water-based graphene dispersion. The water-based graphene dispersion is stable without visible phase separation after storage at room temperature for at least one year or even more than one year.

  • Patent number: 11021315
Abstract: A spray cap system is described that can enable a user to more consistently and accurately dispense and work with the contents of a spray can. The system includes a spray cap, spray button, spray nozzle, implement holder, and an implement (such as a brush, a foam pad applicator, or a sponge). By using the spray cap system, a user may achieve a more optimal discharge pattern of the contents of the can with a more efficient and optimal coverage of a surface. In addition, the user may utilize the implement while it is attached to the spray cap or remove the implement to use the implement independently. The spray cap system provides versatility to a user by enabling the user to spray the contents of the spray can regardless of whether the implement is attached to the spray cap.

  • Patent number: 6746977
Abstract: A moist wax-impregnated towelette suitable for polishing a lightly-soiled exterior surface of a vehicle without buffing and without abrading the vehicle surface comprises a low-lint fabric such as melt-blown polypropylene non-woven fabric, impregnated with an aqueous silicone-based car wax emulsion in an amount of about 30 to about 170 grams of emulsion per square meter of fabric. The aqueous silicone-based car wax emulsion contains a isopropanol, a silicone oil, an amino-functional silicone, a cationic emulsifier, a nonionic emulsifier, an anti static agent, a silicone polyether wetting agent and optionally contains a wax such as carnauba wax. The wetting agent provides for even distribution of the aqueous car wax emulsion into the fabric and further promotes the even distribution of the car wax onto the vehicle surface when wiped thereon.

  • Patent number: 6506715
Abstract: An automobile wash and wax composition suitable for simultaneously washing and waxing a soiled exterior surface of a vehicle without buffing. The automotive wash and wax composition being an aqueous emulsion containing an anionic surfactant, a silicone oil, an amino-functional silicone, a wax, and a cationic emulsifier. The wash and wax composition is applied to a pre-wetted exterior surface of a vehicle so as to substantially coat the surface of the vehicle that requires cleaning and polishing. After the coated surface has substantially dried, the surface is washed with a sufficient quantity of water to rinse away the soil particles and the residue of the anionic surfactant, leaving behind a durable, evenly distributed, high-gloss, water resistant protective film of silicones and wax on the vehicle surface, without any buffing of the surface.

  • Patent number: 6113007
Abstract: Retrofit systems are provided to convert existing automated vehicle washing systems from using conventional car wash chemicals to highly concentrated chemicals. The retrofit systems enable a car wash operator to control the feed volume of concentrated chemicals that are fed to a spray arch where the chemicals are mixed with water before being sprayed on a vehicle. The system provided enables the operators of existing car washes to convert from conventional chemicals to highly concentrated chemicals without purchasing an excessive amount of new equipment or carrying out extensive modifications of existing equipment. A novel feature of the present invention includes the use of a pre-dilution block or a double-tip metering assembly for controlling the volume of highly concentrated chemicals delivered to the spray arch of the car wash where the chemicals are diluted with water before being applied to a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5968238
Abstract: An improved polishing composition is provided that includes an emulsion of a oil-based components and water-based components and a water soluble polishing agent. The polishing composition of the present invention is rubbed on a painted surface, hosed off with water and wiped or towel dried. Because of the use of a water soluble polishing agent in the polishing composition, all or substantially all of the polishing agent is washed away with the water. This eliminates the need for a two-step polishing process wherein a polishing composition is applied to a surface and allowed to dry in a first step and the surface is buffed with a dry cloth in a second step. One preferred embodiment of the present invention includes silicones, water, a nonionic or anionic surfactant and a water soluble polishing agent. Optionally, the polishing composition may include a solvent, mineral oil, wax, and a preservative.

  • Patent number: 5821291
Abstract: A stick for the application of a colored composition to scratches, nicks or chips in a painted substrate, such as a vehicle body, is provided. The stick fills in, masks and seals the scratches, nicks or chips producing a finish that has a final appearance substantially similar to the surrounding vehicle finish and maintains water and rust repellency over repeated washings and exposure to the elements. The stick includes a structuring substance containing one or more waxes, a pigment, and a wax soluble liquid silicone polymeric material. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the stick comprises an acid wax derived from montan wax, a paraffin wax, carnauba wax, pigment and a wax soluble liquid silicone polymeric material including polydimethyl siloxane and hydrocarbon groups. In another embodiment of the invention, the stick is conveniently mounted in an applicator of the lipstick holder type.

  • Patent number: 5655713
Abstract: Retrofit systems are provided to convert existing automated vehicle washing systems from using conventional car wash chemicals to highly concentrated chemicals. The retrofit systems enable the concentrated chemicals to be pre-diluted before they are mixed with water from the main water supply. The two systems provided enable the operators of existing car washes to convert from conventional chemicals to highly concentrated chemicals without purchasing an excessive amount of new equipment or carrying out extensive modifications of existing equipment. A novel feature of one embodiment of the present invention includes the use of pre-dilution block for mixing highly concentrated chemical with pre-dilution water prior to the introduction of the mixture to the spray arch where it is diluted again with water from the main water supply. A second embodiment includes the pre-dilution of concentrated chemical twice before it is introduced to the spray arch where it is again diluted with water from the main water supply.
