Abstract: An improved gear selection indicator principally for use in vehicle's having a manual transmission, and including a shift knob sleeve placed over the vehicle gear shift lever, and an illuminated display disposed in the opening of the sleeve. The display includes a gear shift pattern plate with LEDs disposed around a shift pattern. The lights are controlled by a display circuit board having a microcontroller. A sensor ring attached to the vehicle transmission case includes a plurality of electro-magnetic position sensors which are activated by magnets disposed in a magnetic activation ring placed over the shaft of the gear shift lever. A sensor ring circuit board in electrical communication with the position sensors and the display board microcontroller detects any activation of the position sensors and sends a signal to the display board microcontroller which maps the data onto the LED display for an illuminated gear selection output.
