The natural-oil byproduct can comprise unhydrolyzed fat/oil and free fatty acids; and its emissions upon burning have substantially reduced pollutant concentrations relative to other fuels. When used as an energy source, the natural-oil byproduct can be burned alone or in combination with a traditional fuel, such as number 2 or number 6 oil or coal.
