Publication number: 20060216503Abstract: An adhesive tape system is provided. In one embodiment, the adhesive tape system includes a carrier layer having a first acrylic-based adhesive disposed on a first side and a second acrylic-based adhesive disposed on an opposing second side. A foam layer has a first side bonded to the second side of the carrier layer by the second acrylic-based adhesive and an opposing second side having a third acrylic-based adhesive disposed thereon. The foam layer may further include an open cell urethane foam.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2005Publication date: September 28, 2006Applicant: Tyco Adhesives LPInventor: Samuel Hambrick

Patent number: 6726971Abstract: Flame retardant, clear pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprises clear polyether-based polyurethane backing film and clear, polyether-based polyurethane pressure sensitive adhesive coated on one side of the backing film. Flame retardant is incorporated into the polyurethane backing film and the polyurethane adhesive to render the tape substantially flame retardant without causing a loss of the substantial transparency of the tape. The tape meets the following flame retardancy requirements: maximum average burn extinguishing time of 15 seconds, maximum average burn length of 8 inches and maximum average drip extinguishing time of 5 seconds, measured in accordance with defined test methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1999Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: Tyco Adhesives LPInventor: Wilkey Wong

Patent number: 6521309Abstract: A double-sided single-liner pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has a first pressure-sensitive adhesive, preferably an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, on one side of a carrier web, and a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive on the other side of the carrier web. The tape is single-liner in that a double-sided release liner is wound with the double-sided tape, such that only a single release liner is required. A layer of first release material, preferably a silicone release material, is disposed on a first side of a release liner web facing the acrylic or other first pressure-sensitive adhesive. Fluorosilicone release material is disposed on the opposite surface of the release liner web facing the silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. Preferred embodiments exhibit fluorosilicone unwind along with good balance of tack, adhesion and shear.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 1999Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Assignee: Tyco Adhesives LPInventors: J. Samuel Chen, Donald Haurey

Patent number: 6376045Abstract: A retroreflective adhesive material has a retroreflective composition including retroreflective elements protruding from a first surface of a binder layer. A carrier web is secured to a second surface of the binder layer. The retroreflective adhesive material also includes a pressure sensitive adhesive layer. In certain preferred embodiments, a removable release liner covers the pressure sensitive adhesive. Retroreflective pattern elements are formed by the retroreflective composition, and the retroreflective material is clean-edge hand tearable. In certain embodiments, the carrier web is formed of fabric.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1999Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Tyco Adhesives LPInventors: Wilkey Wong, Jerry M. Serra, Richard J. Patent number: 6355344Abstract: Flexible, conformable, pressure sensitive adhesive film material has a plastic film and a compatible pressure sensitive adhesive layer on at least a first surface of the plastic film. The plastic film is formulated of plastic film polymers and optional additives. The plastic film polymers include, at least, thermoplastic ethylene/styrene interpolymer in major part, and a temperature modifier polymer, which increases the thermal resistance of the plastic film. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer is compatible with the plastic film, such as acrylic-based adhesive and shear-coated rubber-based adhesive. The PSA film material can be harness tape for use in wire harness constructions and can provide advantageously low fogging and good recyclability, along with performance characteristics suitable to stringent harness tape and other end-use applications. In certain embodiments, a plastic barrier layer is coextruded with the plastic film, and a surface of the plastic film opposite the adhesive layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: Tyco Adhesives LPInventors: Abboud L.
