Patent number: 7173206Abstract: A switch assembly is provided which includes a holder defining at least a pair of eyelets extending completely therethrough; an electrically conductive lead-frame supported on the holder, the lead-frame defining at least a pair of openings therein; and at least a pair of electrically conductive rivets each configured and adapted for at least partial positioning in a respective eyelet. The first opening of the lead-frame is larger than a head portion of a first rivet such that the head portion does not contact the lead-frame. The second opening of the lead-frame is smaller than a head portion of another rivet such that the head portion contacts the lead-frame. The switch assembly further includes at least one electrically conductive snap dome in electrical contact with the lead-frame and overlying the first rivet.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2005Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd.Inventor: Ronal Charles Du Pont

Patent number: 6988871Abstract: A heat sink attachment clip for attaching a heat sink assembly to a frame, the heat sink attachment clip includes a pair of attachment brackets. Each attachment bracket has one or more attachment legs and each attachment leg has a clip attachment means for engagement with a corresponding frame attachment means. A levered cam is used to bear on heat sink assembly. The levered cam is moveable from a first position in which the levered cam does not press the heat sink assembly against the frame to a second position in which the levered cam the heat sink assembly presses the heat sink assembly against the frame. A a handle connects the levered cams of the two attachment clips so that movement of the handle engages both levered cams simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2003Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd.Inventors: Steven Deboer, Alin Ila, Kevin O'Neill, Ross Armstrong

Patent number: 6883949Abstract: A light pipe having one or more exterior protrusions that function as a secondary light source and an alignment component. The one or more exterior protrusions may provide a secondary light source by reflecting light from a primary light source. The one or more exterior protrusions also may function to align the light pipe with a lamp assembly or an object on which the light pipe is mounted. Further, a lamp assembly having a light pipe receiving portion, with one or more slits to allow an opening to expand upon insertion of the light pipe, and to provide a retention force upon contraction.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhiro Goto, Andras Gyimes, Ronald Charles Du Pont, Dragos Luca

Patent number: 6854181Abstract: A method of assembling a folded-fin heat sink assembly, the assembly including base plate, a folded fin-assembly and a shroud, includes positioning the folded-fin assembly on a base plate, placing the shroud over the folded-fin assembly, urging the shroud to press the folded-fin assembly against the baze plate and bonding attached to the base plate and a shroud. According to an embodiment, the resulting shroud of the folded-fin assembly acts as extension of the folded-fin heat sink providing additional fin surfaces via which heat can be dissipated.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2002Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd.Inventors: Adrian Pieter Sas, Kevin O'Neil, Robert Bamsey

Patent number: 6409534Abstract: A coaxial cable assembly 2 consists of a plug coaxial connector subassembly 4 and a jack coaxial connector subassembly 6. A plug connector 10 and a jack connector 50 are respectively mounted in molded plug and jack housings 20 and 60 respectively. The plug and jack housings 20 and 60 include a latching beam 66 that is attachable to a raised bum 26 on the other connector. The maximum force for disengaging the two subassemblies is greater than the engagement force because the bump includes a sloping forward surface 36 and a steep rear surface 38. When used with connectors 10 and 50 that have equal mating and unmating forces, the total unmating force exceeds the mating force. The latches and the connectors are also positioned so that maximum mating forces of the two separate latching systems do not overlap, thus keeping the total mating force within acceptable limits.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2001Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Tyco Electronics Canada Ltd.Inventor: Adam Weisz-Margulescu
