    Abstract: A temperature protection device is provided, which comprises with a polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) device 1 having a conductive polymer 5 placed between two electrodes 6 and 7, and a metal member 2 bonded to one of the electrodes 7 of the polymeric PTC device, and which, when the ambient temperature exceeds a prescribed temperature, terminates the current-flowing state between the other electrode 6 of the polymeric PTC device 1 and the metal member 2. The conductive polymer 5 expands thermally when the ambient temperature exceeds the prescribed temperature, and a material is selected for the metal member 2 that will melt as a result of the heat generated by the conductive polymer during the thermal expansion.

The respective opposite electrodes and the terminal between them are electrically connected with each other.

    Abstract: A waterproof lead includes an electric wire, a terminal, and a heat-shrink tube. The electric wire has an insulative cover and a plurality of exposed core wires. The terminal has a contact member, a core wire crimping section that crimps the plurality of exposed core wires, and an insulative cover crimping section that crimps the insulative cover. The heat-shrink tube covers at least a leading end of the exposed core wires adjacent to the core wire crimping section. An adhesive is provided on an internal surface of the heat-shrink tube. The adhesive seals clearances between adjacent exposed core wires.

This electrical device can increase the area of the PTC elements without increasing the projected area as a whole.

    Abstract: A battery pack and a PTC device are provided that can be used safely under large current loads by increasing the area of the incorporated PTC layer so as to decrease its internal resistance. The battery pack has a plurality of unit cells (1) placed side by side in parallel and the PTC device P to protect the unit cells (1) from overcurrents. The PTC device P has a first electrode (3) and a second electrode (4) connected to the both surfaces of the PTC layer (2). The PTC layer is formed to an outer shape that covers almost the entirety of the end surfaces of the two unit cells (1) to which the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) are connected, and has through holes (2B) positioned against the end electrodes (1A) of the unit cells (1).
