Abstract: An electrical connector system is provided and includes a connector housing including a base and a plurality of terminal cavities extending through the base. The base includes a retention shoulder within each terminal cavity. The electrical connector system includes terminals received in the corresponding terminal cavities. Each terminal includes a locking lance engaging the corresponding retention terminal to retain the terminal in the corresponding terminal cavity. Each locking lance includes a strengthening rib extending length-wise along the locking lance.

Abstract: A terminal and a method for terminating a wire. The terminal incudes a wire support member having a wire securing portion and a wire contacting portion. The terminal also includes a wire positioned in the wire support member that has a contact section which is positioned in the wire contacting portion of the wire support member. The contact section of the wire makes an electrical and mechanical connection with a mating wire, a mating terminal or a mating contact surface.

Abstract: A sensor assembly for a switchgear connector includes a high voltage side facing a switchgear, a low voltage side, and an isolation barrier that provides a galvanic isolation between the high voltage side and the low voltage side. The sensor assembly includes a sensor device measuring at least one physical quantity and outputting a sensor data representative of the at least one physical quantity. The sensor device is arranged on the high voltage side. The sensor assembly includes a data interface arranged on the low voltage side and providing for the sensor data to be accessible from outside of the sensor assembly. The sensor assembly includes a transmission path transferring the sensor data between the sensor device and the data interface. The transmission path has a wireless section extending across the isolation barrier.

Abstract: A method for producing a heat-shrinkable product is provided. First, a polymer composition containing a polymer, a crosslinking agent and a micro-encapsulated foaming agent uniformly dispensed therein is melt mixed. The foaming agent has a peak activation temperature which is higher than a temperature of the melt mixing. Next, the polymer composition is injection molded into a molded product. This carried out at the peak activation temperature to activate the foaming agent. Then, the molded product is crosslinked within the mold.

Abstract: An antimicrobial product comprising an inner layer and an outer layer surrounding said inner layer wherein said inner layer is crosslinked. The outer layer includes at least one antimicrobial additive. A process of forming such antimicrobial product using extrusion is described.

Abstract: A low insertion force contact terminal which has a conductor mating portion, a securing portion and a substrate mating portion. The conductor mating portion is configured to terminate a conductor therein. The securing portion is configured to secure the terminal in a terminal receiving cavity of a housing. The substrate mating portion extends from the securing portion. The substrate mating portion has at least two sections which have curved portions thereon. The at least two sections move independently, which allows the curved portions to exert a normal force on walls of through holes of a substrate to which the contact terminal is mated which is sufficient to provide a stable electrical connection while allowing for a low insertion force.

Abstract: A method of remotely monitoring a status of a surge arrester disconnector includes providing a long-range wireless mesh communication system including a plurality of disconnectors organized in a plurality of clusters. Each cluster includes a plurality of disconnectors that are physically located within a same cluster area. At least one of the disconnectors in each cluster is coupled to a communication device of a predetermined communication range. The method includes transmitting, from a first cluster, a status signal indicative of a status of a first disconnector in the first cluster to a second cluster located within the predetermined communication range, and consecutively transmitting the status signal from the second cluster to a third cluster within the predetermined communication range, until reaching an end cluster.

Abstract: An insulation displacement contact is for piercing through an insulation of a cable or wire in a cutting direction and electrically contacting an electrically conductive core of the cable or wire. The insulation displacement contact includes a contact body having a piercing section for piercing the insulation and a contact slot receiving the core of the cable or wire. The contact slot extends along the cutting direction from the piercing section into the contact body. The contact body has a pair of blades separated by the contact slot. The blades have a pair of attachment slots extending from the piercing section into the blades.

Abstract: A wire terminating apparatus and method which allows for determining the quality of a wire termination. The method includes terminating the wire, monitoring the thermal properties of the termination with one or more thermal sensors and comparing the monitored thermal properties to stored thermal properties to determine if the termination is defective. If the termination is defective, the termination is discarded. The apparatus includes a wire termination zone. A thermal sensor is mounted on the wire terminating apparatus proximate the wire termination zone. The thermal sensor monitors the thermal properties of the termination to determine if the termination is defective.

Abstract: A contact assembly for a connector housing includes an adapter element and a contact element. The adapter element has a sleeve with a lead-through opening extending in an axial direction of the sleeve and with a threaded bore extending perpendicularly to the lead-through opening through the sleeve. The contact element may exhibit varying types of a cable connection section and/or a contact section.
