  • Patent number: 6525239
Abstract: A disposable absorbent thong-shaped pantiliner. The pantiliner is in the form of a generally planar pad having a longitudinal central axis and a generally wedge-shaped periphery including first and second generally concave longitudinal extending sides interconnecting a top end and a bottom end. The pad includes a fluid-pervious top sheet an absorbent core and a fluid impervious back sheet that are bonded together along a first set of non-linear, parallel lines and second set of linear parallel lines. The first set of lines have portions extending generally along each side and the top and bottom end of the pad. The first set of lines also has a fourth portion extending generally along the bottom end of the pad. The second set of lines are located adjacent the bottom end of the pad and extend parallel to the longitudinal axis. The first set of parallel lines merge with the second set of parallel lines adjacent the bottom end of the pad.

  • Patent number: 6514233
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, e.g., a diaper, and a method of manufacturing plural such articles. Each diaper includes a front section, a rear section and an intermediate section. Each section is a generally planar member formed of a flexible material having a top edge, a bottom edge and an opposed pair of side edges. The bottom edge of the front section is somewhat concave, and the bottom edge of the rear section is somewhat convex. The intermediate section is formed of a fluid pervious cover-stock, a fluid impervious barrier layer, and an absorbent core interposed therebetween. The intermediate section is of generally rectangular shape having a pair of elasticized sides and an pair of end portion one of which is adhesively secured to the middle of the front section, while the other end portion is similarly secured to the middle of the rear section. The front and rear sections are arranged to be releasably secured to each other by fastening tapes to mount the diaper.

  • Patent number: 6506961
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, e.g., a pantiliner, or other absorbent pad. The pad is an elongated generally planar member having a general hour-glass shape periphery including a pair of concave, side sections interconnecting respective ones of a pair of convex end sections. The pad basically comprises a top-sheet, a fluid absorbent core, and a cover sheet. The top sheet is formed of a fluid pervious material, e.g., a non-woven material, and is disposed over the absorbent core. The absorbent core comprises a fluid absorbing material, e.g., cellulosic fluff and super-absorbent particles, and is disposed over the cover sheet. The cover sheet is formed of a fluid impervious material, e.g., a plastic film. The top-sheet, the fluid absorbent core and the cover sheet are bonded, e.g., thermally bonded, together along plural concentric lines located adjacent the periphery of the pad. The plural concentric lines form a barrier resistant to the egress of fluid out of the periphery of the pad.

  • Patent number: 6491677
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, e.g., a diaper, adult incontinent brief, shield, insert, pad, etc., with significantly improved leakage control, particularly for loose fecal matter. The article includes a barrier panel secured to at least the back waist portion of the article. The barrier panel includes a body-friendly pressure sensitive adhesive, which is arranged to be selectively exposed, if desired, to enable the adhesive to be releasably secured to the skin of the wearer. This securement forms a liquid resistant barrier to the egress of loose fecal material from the waist portion of the article. The body-friendly adhesive is arranged to be covered when its use is not desired.

  • Patent number: 6478786
Abstract: A protective underwear having a crotch portion, a waist portion, a front belly portion and a rear back portion. The waist, belly and back portions include plural transversely oriented elastic threads. The underwear includes an absorbent core. Longitudinally oriented elastic threads are located on opposite sides of the core and intersect the transverse elastic threads to enclose the core. The underwear includes a pair of leg openings, each of which has a first arcuate section, a second arcuate section, and an intermediate section. The first arcuate section includes at least one arcuate elastic thread, as does the second arcuate section. Those threads are spaced by a gap. A portion of the longitudinally oriented elastic threads on either side of the core is located closely adjacent a respective gap between the arcuate elastic threads to elasticize the leg openings.

  • Patent number: 6455753
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, e.g., a diaper, arranged to be worn by a wearer to trap and collect fluid waste products, e.g., urine, of the wearer. The article has a flexible chassis and plural tabs for holding the diaper in place on the wearer. The chassis is made up of a top-sheet, a fluid acquisition system, and a fluid absorbent core. The top sheet is formed of a fluid pervious material, e.g., a fibrous material. The core includes fast acting fluid absorbing material, e.g., fluff, and a slow acting fluid absorbing and retaining material, e.g., SAP. The fluid acquisition system comprises a first fluid acquisition layer formed of apertured polymeric, e.g., three dimensional, film and a second fluid acquisition layer, e.g., a fibrous material, secured together and located between the top-sheet and the core, with the first fluid acquisition layer facing the top-sheet and the second fluid acquisition layer facing the core.

  • Patent number: 6443934
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, e.g., pantiliner pad, for use with a thong shaped undergarment. The pad is of rectangular shape and includes a tapering, e.g., truncated triangle, absorbent core adhesively secured between a rectangular moisture pervious top sheet and a rectangular moisture impervious outer cover. Portions of the top sheet and outer cover extending beyond the margins of the core form a pair of triangular mounting flaps. The pad also includes adhesive stripes on the outer cover to secure the pad in place to the undergarment.

  • Patent number: 6440112
Abstract: A disposable absorbent pad arranged to be worn in an undergarment to trap and collect urine. The pad has a moisture pervious, e.g., fibrous, top-sheet, a fluid acquisition layer, an absorbent core, and a moisture-impervious, e.g., polymeric film, back-sheet. The back-sheet is formed of a fluid impervious material, e.g., a polymeric film. The fluid acquisition layer is disposed over the core and both it and the core are interposed between the top-sheet and the back-sheet. The back-sheet has an opposed pair of arcuate edge portions and an opposed pair of linear side edges. The top-sheet has an opposed pair of arcuate edges and an opposed pair of side portions. Each of the side portions of the top-sheet merges with the remainder of the top-sheet along a respective fold line and each is of a generally trapezoidal shape. The arcuate edges of the top-sheet are disposed over respective ones the arcuate edges of the back-sheet. The top-sheet and back-sheet are secured together.

  • Patent number: 6369290
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article is provided with a odor control powder which is unscented in a dry state and releases a burst of fragrance when wetted, such as by human waste. The powder contains a relatively small amount of fragrance oil, such as 0.5% to 4% by weight, to prevent skin irritation to the wearer. The small amount of fragrance oil is microencapsulated in a starch which constitutes from about 50% to 90%, and preferably about 70%, of the total weight of the particles. Sodium bicarbonate is also included in the particulate odor control material in an amount ranging from 5.0% to 45%, and preferably about 25% by weight, of the total weight of the particles. The sodium bicarbonate promotes skin wellness by controlling the pH levels of the fragrance oil, starch and human waste. A small amount of flow agent is also contained in the particulate odor control material.
