Abstract: This document describes a monitoring system for detecting conditions at a physical premises. The monitoring system can receive, by a computing system, from a video sensor system deployed at the physical premises, block-based encoded video data encoded with a block-based encoder in the video sensor system. The monitoring system can parse, by the computing system, the block-based encoded video data to extract from the block-based encoded data macroblock arrays that correspond to areas of a frame of video data. The monitoring system can reduce, by the computing system, the macroblock arrays to one or more data clusters. The monitoring system can apply, by the computing system, a pattern recognition algorithm to the one or more data clusters to detect patterns in the one or more data clusters.

  • Publication number: 20150227734
Abstract: Among other things, a system comprises a processor device, a memory in communication with the processor device, and a storage device that stores a program of computing instructions for execution by the processor using the memory. The program comprises instructions configured to cause the processor to receive from a user device biometric information of a user requesting access to the security system. The biometric information is associated with the user in possession of the user device. The processor is also caused to analyze the received biometric information to determine whether the user in possession of the device is a person authorized to access the security system with the user device. If the user is determined to be authorized, the user is allowed to access the security system.

  • Publication number: 20130117912
Abstract: A protective hood is provided for protecting a wearer's head from environmental elements. The protective hood includes a hood body having a cap section positioned to fit over a top of the wearer's head, side sections positioned to hang adjacent sides of the wearer's head, and a back section positioned to hang adjacent a back of the wearer's head. The hood body defines an interior space for receiving the wearer's head. An outlet is provided for exhausting gas from the interior space of the hood body. The outlet includes a channel defined by first and second portions of the hood body. The channel is in fluid communication with the interior space and includes an open end portion in fluid communication with the environment for exhausting gas from the channel into the environment.

  • Patent number: 6833038
Abstract: A barrier sheet having a first side and a second side, a top edge, a bottom edge, and a laterally located midpoint, wherein the sheet is folded along its length to form a folded sheet defined by at least one fold with an adhesive strip positioned at a predetermined distance from the top and bottom edges, and preferably approximately at the sheet midpoint. When making a roll of barrier material, a barrier sheet material is provided and folded at least once laterally. The sheet then incorporates an adhesive strip applied to one side of the sheet at a predetermined distance from the top and bottom ends, preferably approximately at the midpoint. The adhesive strip is oriented lengthwise such that when the sheet is unrolled from the roll and unfolded, the strip will approximately bisect the sheet lengthwise. The sheet is then folded in a predetermined fashion, and rolled onto a roll.

  • Patent number: 6231532
Abstract: A method for augmenting blood circulation in the limb of a patient is provided by customizing the compression cycle based upon patient venous characteristics. The method measures the venous refill time of the patient for use with an intermittent pneumatic compression device. A limb such as a leg is wrapped with a compression sleeve having at least one pressurizable chamber. The chamber is pressurized for a predetermined period of time to compress the limb and cause blood to flow out of the limb. The chamber is depressurized until the pressure in the chamber reaches a lower value, and the chamber is closed. The pressure in the chamber is sensed and the venous refill time, the time for the limb to refill with blood, is determined by sensing when the pressure reaches or will reach a plateau. The venous refill time is used as the basis for the time between subsequent compression pulses of the compression device.

  • Patent number: 6053905
Abstract: A self-contained, self-lubricating catheter assembly is provided. A receptacle formed of two opposed flexible walls includes a main chamber and a lubrication chamber separated by a passage. A lubricant is provided in the lubrication chamber. A catheter is advanced from the main chamber through the lubrication chamber and picks up lubricant as it is passes through the lubrication chamber. A catheter grasping mechanism, located proximate the exit from the lubrication chamber, permits advancement of the catheter out of the receptacle and resists movement of the catheter back into the receptacle. The receptacle also includes one or more finger holes therethrough to allow the user to retain the receptacle on one or more fingers, thereby allowing the hand to more readily position the receptacle during use while advancing the catheter.

  • Patent number: 5823184
Abstract: The invention features a component which is part of a breathing circuit for directing flow of air to and from a patient, the breathing circuit including an inspiratory tube defining an inspiratory lumen for flow of air to the patient and an expiratory tube defining an expiratory lumen for flow of air from the patient, the tubes being joined via a common wye piece to the component. The component includes each of inner and outer coaxial tubes, the inner tube defining an inner lumen in communication with the inspiratory lumen, the outer tube defining an outer lumen in communication with the expiratory lumen, wherein the outer tube is made from a collapsible and expandable tubing which is sufficiently flexible to assume a bent configuration and sufficiently stable to retain the bent configuration, and thus is virtually unlimited in its positionability with respect to the patient and the bulky portions of the breathing circuit.
