The core assembly includes a lamp envelope protector disposed over an outer surface of the lamp envelope, and a core member surrounding the lamp envelope at a core mounting location such that lamp envelope protector is disposed between the core member and the lamp envelope. The core assembly further includes a coil bobbin coupled to the core member, and a coil wounded around the coil bobbin.

The electrodeless lamp assembly further includes an induction coil wound around the indented coil winding section of the core.
