Patent number: 4016233Abstract: A process for making a flexible structural member is disclosed in which the member is formed from a mixture of scrap particles of thermoplastic wire and cable insulation, wood particles, comminuted paper, sawdust, and a suitable resin binder. The fabrication process is carried out by initially forming a mixture of reclaimed thermoplastic wire or cable insulation, a thermosetting binder, and one or more wood-like fillers, such as wood chips, comminuted paper, sawdust, and a mold release agent. The mixture is then placed in a mold and is subjected to heat and pressure to form a flexible structural member.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1975Date of Patent: April 5, 1977Assignee: Capital Wire and Cable, Division of U.S. IndustriesInventor: John Philip Pringle

Patent number: 4008690Abstract: A plurality of cages are arranged side-by-side on a frame in one or more horizontally spaced rows and if desired in spaced vertical tiers. The commonly facing sides of each spaced row include coverable access openings and poultry confined in the cages are removed through the openings onto a generally horizontally moving conveyor movable vertically adjacent the cage openings to each tier. Preferably, the conveyor is an endless belt type and each tier includes horizontally spaced rows vertically spaced above each other, the conveyor being movable vertically between the rows.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1974Date of Patent: February 22, 1977Assignee: U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 4007537Abstract: A registration system is adapted to operate with a conventional snap fastener attachment machine and serves to position a fastener having a logo imprinted on a surface in any one of a plurality of desired positions to assure that the fastener, when emplaced on the garment, will be positioned to enable correct orientation of the logo. The fastener is associated with a notch, which notch is coated by one of a plurality of finger members associated with the registration system. The coaction of the notch by the finger member serves to terminate rotation of the fastener and further serves to indicate to the operator that orientation is correct. The finger members can be selected according to the nature or configuration of the garment to permit a single fastening machine to accomplish fastener attachment and automatic orientation of the same.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1975Date of Patent: February 15, 1977Assignee: Rau Fastener, a division of U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventors: Herbert M. Silverbush, Philip B. Jensen

Patent number: 3995082Abstract: The specification discloses a weatherstrip for automobile doors, windows and the like comprising a strip of closed cell neoprene material, having an end which is molded over a mounting plate such that the mounting plate is an integral part of the end of the neoprene strip. The mounting plate is molded to a desired mounting configuration of a heat stabilized, mineral filled polyamide polymer containing approximately forty percent by weight of a finely divided mineral powder.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1976Date of Patent: November 30, 1976Assignee: U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventors: James W. Minhinnick, Carl H. Wollen

Patent number: 3971340Abstract: A plurality of feed pan assemblies are attached beneath a feed trough connected to a supply hopper, the trough having an internal conveyor for moving feed therealong. Each assembly includes a container suspended intermediate the trough and pan which are pre-filled with feed dispensed from the trough. The bottom of each container is closed by a gate during filling of the container, the gates being simultaneously opened by an actuator which provides simultaneously premeasured dispensing of feed into the desired number of feeder pans. Preferably, the gate is cone-shaped.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1974Date of Patent: July 27, 1976Assignee: U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Dee Dexter Allen

Patent number: 3965691Abstract: When the ambient temperature is high, proper temperature control is assisted within the poultry house using a spray means that sprays water onto a filter pad that is positioned in front of the fresh air inlet. The water spray and pad act to cool air being taken into the building through the inlet without objectionably raising the humidity.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1974Date of Patent: June 29, 1976Assignee: U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 3961780Abstract: A precision rotary indexing fixture wherein a work support plate is rotatably journalled on a base. The plate and base each have a downwardly facing ring of teeth thereon. An axially movable coupling ring has two rings of teeth thereon which register axially and are adapted to mesh with the rings of teeth on the plate and base to fixedly retain the plate in a predetermined angular position relative to the base. The number of teeth in the two sets of rings may differ and the coupling ring may be rotated through a predetermined arcuate extent to obtain vernier angular adjustment of the top plate relative to the base through an arcuate extent of a fraction of the spacing between the successive teeth on either of the rings.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1975Date of Patent: June 8, 1976Assignee: U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Joseph J. Patent number: 3938428Abstract: Proper ventilation is achieved by exhaust fans which draw fresh air into the building through an inlet duct. The inlet opening is adjustable by a valve movable between generally open and closed positions and a movable deflector controls the direction of flow in accordance with the rate of flow to achieve even circulation. The valve and deflector position are controlled by an actuator responsive to the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the building. Preferably, the inlet opening is a longitudinal slot extending the length of the building along each side at the ceiling and the exhaust fans are positioned at the floor. Preferably, a louver in front of the opening controls the effective size of the opening and the deflection angle of flow into the building.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1974Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Assignee: U. S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Van Huis

Patent number: 3939064Abstract: A plurality of axially spaced blades are rotated by a drive shaft positioned above the feed trough. The blades rotate transversely through the upper feed layer skimming off the foreign matter which is deposited in a container alongside the trough as the blades are rotated downwardly. Preferably, the blades are rotated through scraping wires on their downward track to clean the blades prior to passing through the feed once more.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1974Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Assignee: U.
