Abstract: Integrated, juxtaposed head units of a magnetic head have transducing gaps directly adjacent a central plane transverse to the longitudinal direction of relative movement of a magnetic recording medium, adjacent transducing gaps being to opposite sides of the central plane. Head units adjoin each other so that a recording channel density of 100% is achieved. In one embodiment a common electrical conductor passes through a plurality of head units to one side of the central plane, and electrical connection tracks extending from a portion of the conductor form inductive transducing elements.
Abstract: A communication device is disclosed having a housing which houses a transceiver. Two transducers transform signals between sound waves and electrical signals. A sliding member includes one of the transducers. The sliding member is retracted into the housing in a retracted position and is extended away from the housing in an extended position. A positioning device positions the sliding member in the retracted or the extended position. The positioning device including a bar and a collar which rotates around the bar in response to a force directed inward toward the housing to maintain the sliding member in the retracted or extended position.

Abstract: A threaded insert is designed to snap into a standard bone plate hole. The insert has an upper section divided into sectors by slots, a lower section having deflectable tabs with external projections, and a central threaded hole. When a standard bone screw is tightened in the insert, the insert rigidly fixes the screw to the plate by collapsing the threads of the insert onto the threads of the screw, and by expanding the sectors of the upper section to clamp the bone plate.

Abstract: The invention relates to an electromotor comprising a stator part and a rotor part, which parts form an oil-containing spiral groove bearing system. Surface areas of said parts are provided with a so-called oil barrier in order to prevent the oil from creeping from the bearing system to the environment. According to the present invention, said oil barrier comprises a monolayer of perfluorocarboxylic acid anions, especially those having a chain length of 10-20 C-atoms and/or perfluoroalkylthiol anions. Oil barriers of this type can be easily provided on the rotor part and stator part by means of dipping. These oil barriers have a very small thickness and can very suitably be used to prevent oil creepage.

The generators are adapted to generate designation records which are each associated with specification. The processors are adapted to generate data blocks (DB) whose header portion (HP) has a first section (HSP-"1") and at least one further section (HSP-"2", HSP-"3", HSP-"4"). The generation means are adapted to generate a designation record (DS3) associated with a specification partner code associated with a specification partner, which designation record can be inserted in the first section (HSP-"1") of a data block (DB).

The control system includes a ring detector, a ring generator, a controller and a telephone extension bus. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the control system is programmable to: (i) control the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (ii) control the staging of the ringing function of a plurality of extensions when an incoming call is received; (iii) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions to initiate an outgoing call; (iv) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is in-use, i.e. presently being used to engage in an ongoing telephone call; (v) control the use of one or more of a plurality of extensions when another extension is being used for a data call, i.e.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement includes a feedback loop, with a forward path and a feedback path, and a re-combining stage. A measuring circuit is provided to produce a measuring signal derived from a result signal and a feedback signal by linear combination.
Abstract: A user interface for a fax mail system. The invention is a method and instructions for improving interaction with a fax mail system. The sequence of instructions is improved to allow easier interaction. The system allows the subscriber to print all new fax documents which have been received without reviewing them. In addition, the review menu is organized to allow the subscriber to easily print, erase or skip various fax mail messages.

Abstract: A device for supporting multiple line configurations in a Fixed Wireless Loop (FWL) application includes a hand-held transceiver supporting wireless communications. The device also includes a cradle disposed on or in the building for receiving the hand-held transceiver and terminating a primary telecommunications line having at least one primary telephone connected thereto. The cradle further terminates a secondary telecommunications line, different from the primary telecommunications line, having at least one secondary telephone connected thereto. Still further, the cradle includes a spring-loaded switch integrally formed therein, wherein when the hand-held transceiver is in the cradle, the switch is biased to break contact between the primary telecommunications line and the secondary telecommunications line.

Abstract: A business form has a first paper portion with multiple plies and a second portion which is a release liner and has a number of distinct labels disposed on it. At least one of the labels is dimensioned and configured to hold a removable cap on a medical container to indicate if the container cap has been tampered with, and preferably that label has a length of between about 10-11 inches so that it can be wrapped completely around a 90 ml plastic specimen vial, or other medical container, so that portions of the label are in contact with each other, enhancing the tamper evident functionality of the label. A second label on the release liner may be a box seal, and other labels may be provided to facilitate tamper evident functionality of the form.

Abstract: A thermistor comprising a semiconductor ceramic with an oxide spinel, which contains the elements maganese, nickel and indium. Thermistors of said composition are thermally stable and are characterized by a high resistivity and a high B-value.
Abstract: A peak detector that is particularly suitable for measuring the peak value of an RSSI-signal in a digital communication device. The peak detector includes a peak value storage capacitor which is charged by a high current or by a low current. When the RSSI-signal is greater than the output voltage of the peak detector, the storage capacitor is charged with the low current. When the RSSI-signal is substantially greater than the output voltage of the peak detector, the storage capacitor is charged with the high current. Herewith, it is achieved that the peak value of the RSSI-signal is determined quickly, without any overshoot, i.e. the peak value is determined accurately.
Abstract: A circuit having a Cartesian amplifier is disclosed. The Cartesian amplifier includes a re-combining stage which re-combines an input signal from a signal source with a correction signal to output a result signal. A first mixer mixes the result signal with a first oscillating signal from a local oscillator. A power amplifier amplifies the mixed signal and a coupler couples part of the amplified signal to form an outcoupling signal. A feedback path has a second mixer for forming the correction signal by mixing the outcoupling signal with a second oscillating signal from the local oscillator. An envelope curve detector detects the envelope of the amplified signal to produce an envelope signal, and a phase adjustor adjusts the phase of the first or second oscillating signal. A control circuit is provided to control the phase errors in a phase locked loop of the Cartesian amplifier and to minimized the envelope signal.

Abstract: A ring binder (10) stores hole (H) punched sheets of paper (P). A mechanism (16) is a bolt action mechanism which positively locks binder rings (18) which hold paper in its stored position. Each binder ring includes a fixed section (20) and a movable section (22). All of the movable binder ring sections are commonly mounted on a bolt (36) and move in unison with the bolt. A manually operable lever (38) is secured to one end of the bolt. When the lever is moved in one direction, the bolt is rotated so to move the movable sections of the binder rings away from the fixed sections and open the binder. Operation of the lever in the opposite direction brings the movable sections back into contact with the fixed sections to close the binder.
