Patent number: 12385283Abstract: The present invention relates to a locking device 1 having a deadbolt 104 within a casing 102, which deadbolt 104 is movable between an advanced position wherein it protrudes from a front face of the casing 102 and a retreated position, wherein it is retracted into the casing 102. The locking device 1 comprises: a link plate 130 which moves the deadbolt 104 to the advanced position; a deadbolt blocking member 110 which is moveable between a blocking position blocking the deadbolt 104 in the advanced position and an unblocking position to allow the deadbolt 104 to move to the retreated position; an electrically driven actuator unit 120 which moves the deadbolt blocking member 110 between the blocking position and the unblocking position; and a control circuit configured to control the electrically driven actuator unit 120 so that once the deadbolt 104 is moved to the advanced position, the deadbolt blocking member 110 is moved to the blocking position by actuation of the electrically driven actuator unit 120.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2021Date of Patent: August 12, 2025Assignee: UAP LimitedInventors: John McLoughlin, David Jennings

Patent number: 10287804Abstract: An apparatus is provided for securing together two members which are slidable towards and away from each other to provide a respective open and closed (locked) mode, wherein a plurality of devices are adapted to secure the members in a closed mode, and a control unit is adapted to operate the devices. The devices are in the embodiments described spaced longitudinally apart along a vertical edge or stile of a closure member, which may be a patio door, window, or other closure, with the control unit being disposed intermediate the devices and being operatively linked thereto by a connecting device for actuating the devices. The control unit may be driven manually by a control handle, by a solenoid, by an electric or electro-mechanical motor device, or by spring-loaded interlocking devices. The devices cooperate with keeper devices for securing the closure members together in the closed (locked) mode.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2015Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: UAP LIMITEDInventors: Roger Ian Chantler, Ian Southall

Patent number: 9133646Abstract: A lock decoder with a light source has a plate and at least one pick lever that is adapted at one end for insertion in a lock to be decoded and adapted at its other end by provision of a pointer. The pointer moves over the plate as the pick lever is manipulated within a lock and this side of the plate bears indications comprising a range of key bitting codes for each pin position within the lock that may be individually indicated by the pointer. The plate is adapted to permit light to shine through at least predetermined parts of it to illuminate the indications and the light source is secured to the decoder so that it shines through the plate. Preferably, the light source comprises a fluorescent or phosphorescent backing-plate that is secured over the other side of the plate.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2015Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: UAP LIMITEDInventor: David Jennings

Publication number: 20120079860Abstract: A key-operated pin tumbler lock has a shell in which is rotatably disposed a plug that defines a keyway and a plurality of bores. The bores communicate with the keyway through the plug and in a locked position of the lock communicate with corresponding bores formed in the shell. A plurality of spring-loaded pin stacks are located within the bores and are moveable within the bores against the spring-loading by a key inserted in the keyway into a position wherein the plug can be rotated relative to the shell. A stop means is provided in one of the bores and is adapted to engage the pin stack which is located therein such that a key pin of the stack is prevented from penetrating into the plug to a level reached by key pins of the other pin stacks.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2010Publication date: April 5, 2012Applicants: UAP LimitedInventor: Martin Pink
