  • Patent number: 8995997
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for configuration of a femtocell system is provided. A femtocell system is provisioned with a default base station manager IP address. The base station manager receives an account identifier of a user subscription and a femtocell system ID assigned to the femtocell system. The base station manager may allocate a SID/NID for the femtocell system. A list of electronic serial numbers of handsets in the user subscription may be compiled by the base station manager. The femtocell system may connect with the base station manager and request a configuration download once deployed in a SOHO. The compiled electronic serial numbers may then be transferred from the base station manager to the femtocell system in a configuration download.

  • Patent number: 8938244
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for acquisition of an IP-based femtocell system by a user equipment are provided. A manual femtocell acquisition procedure may be invoked at a user equipment for acquiring access to a femtocell system or network of femtocell systems. The femtocell acquisition routine may be invoked by supply of a command to a femto application hosted by the user equipment. Invocation of the femtocell acquisition routine results in the user equipment seeking the femtocell system allocated a prioritized preferred routing list entry. In the event that a femtocell system is located, the femtocell system may perform electronic serial number screening to prevent unintended attachment and registration on a femtocell system with which the user equipment does not have authorized access.

  • Patent number: 8908608
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium that facilitates processing of a mobile-originated voice call for a mobile station attached with a femtocell system are provided. The femtocell system may broadcast a notification that authentication is required for all system access via an overhead message train. The femtocell system receives a call origination request from the mobile station and, in turn, issues a service request message to a convergence server deployed in a core network. The convergence server then engages in an authentication procedure with the mobile station's mobile core network and returns a global challenge response to the femtocell system. The convergence server may then determine if the mobile station is to be validated and, if so, may continue call set up for the call origination request.

  • Patent number: 8848655
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for handoff of a user equipment from a macrocellular system to a femtocell system is provided. A micro-pilot assisted handoff routine may be implemented to facilitate handoff of a user equipment from a macrocellular system to a femtocell system. The femtocell system may transmit very low power pilot, paging, and synch channels on a common frequency used by the macrocellular system. In another embodiment, a mobile assisted handoff routine facilitates handoff of a user equipment from a macrocellular system to a femtocell system. The user equipment's preferred roaming list includes an entry for the femtocell system and specifies a SID/NID and pseudo-noise offset for the femtocell system. The user equipment is configured to periodically enter a search mode to attempt to locate the femtocell system by switching to a femto carrier that is specified in the preferred roaming list.

  • Patent number: 8787198
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium that facilitate authentication center-initiated authentication procedures for a mobile station attached with a femtocell system are provided. A femtocell system may generate a registration identification of a mobile station from one or more mobile station authentication parameters. A convergence server located in a core network receives an authentication procedure request from an authentication center for the mobile station attached with the femtocell system and generates an authentication procedure request message that includes the registration identification assigned to the mobile station. The convergence server then transmits the authentication procedure request message to the femtocell system and receives a response to the authentication procedure request message from the femtocell system. The authentication procedure request may comprise a unique challenge, a shared secret data update procedure, or a call history count update procedure.

  • Patent number: 8693404
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for transmit protection in a femtocell system are provided. A multi-stage transmit protection routine prohibits radio transmissions for unregistered femtocell systems and transmissions from femtocell systems in unauthorized areas. A femtocell system may request transmission authorization from a base station manager. The base station manager may provide an authorization failure if the femtocell system is not registered or if the source address of the femtocell system is not within a predefined distance of a registered location of the femtocell system. If the femtocell is provided a transmission authorization, the femtocell system may obtain a GPS location from a user equipment and provide the GPS location to the base station manager which evaluates the location. The base station manager may provide an authorization failure if the GPS location is not within a predefined distance of the registered location of the femtocell system.
