Abstract: The present invention comprises systems and methods for controlling a connection between and IT infrastructure and a telephony network. In one embodiment, the present invention allows such control through the use of application services adapted for use with a telephony network, a telephony application server that exposes the telephony network to the application services, and a service mediation platform controlling the interaction between the application services and the telephony application server. The service mediation server may comprise a user profile manager for handling the user profiles of a subscriber database, a service level agreement manager for invoking a set of application services, and a resource policy enforcement manager for managing the resources of the telephony network.

Abstract: A system and method for using one communication mode, such as instant messaging, to initiate and manage an alternative communication mode conversation. In one exemplary embodiment, an automated agent transfers conversation participants from an instant messaging conversation to a voice conversation by accepting an instant message command from a conference organizer and interacting with a voice conversation platform to call the instant messaging conversation participants on the telephone. One or more conversation participants can manipulate the conversation via commands to the automated agent using the first communication mode.

A multi-layer architecture, defining object layers within an application container, may be used. A primary layer of such an architecture may comprise infrastructure objects providing foundational element blocks embodying protocol specific functions of the services that are to be built on top of a development container. An intermediate layer of such an architecture may comprise service objects providing service level functions. An upper layer of such an architecture may comprise business objects providing application orchestration element blocks defining the logical application created by combining the foregoing objects.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods which provide high availability with respect to equipment deployed in a distributed system architecture. The distributed system architecture may comprise one or more equipment clusters of a plurality of processor-based systems cooperating to host one or more application servers. Redundancy is provided with respect to equipment of the equipment clusters to provide high availability with respect to equipment used in providing services of the application servers as well as to provide continuity of applications provided by the application servers.
