  • Patent number: 9267669
Abstract: The present invention provides a luminance enhancement film which is superior in dimensional stability, thermal stability, and anti-deformation ability. Thus, it can meet the current requirement for thinning LCD apparatuses. With regard to the luminance enhancement film, a prism row structure is formed on a surface of a substrate, and a reinforced layer is formed on the other surface of the substrate. The glass transition temperature of the reinforced layer is in the range from 80° C. to 250° C., and the thickness of that is in the range from 3 ?m to 50 ?m.

  • Patent number: 9261638
Abstract: A flexible light guide film having a light-adjusting structure in the form of a lenticular-like microstructure on the bottom side of the light guide film. The light guide film has a substrate layer supporting a layer light-adjusting structure, which is in the form of an array of longitudinal lenticular lenses laterally arranged in parallel. A prismatic-like microstructure may be provided on the top light emitting side of the light guide film. The light guide film is fabricated by a process involving coating/embossing of a roll of sheet material, in a roll-to-roll continuous process. Advantages includes significantly reducing the thickness of the light guide film, and the roll-to-roll fabrication process provides for more precise replication of the microstructures on the master mold or drum onto the surface of the light guide film, which in turn reduces the failure rate and manufacturing cost.

  • Patent number: 9180609
Abstract: This invention discloses a method of forming an uneven structure on a substrate. Cut a plurality of trenches in an order on a surface of a mold through a control system, wherein the plurality of trenches comprise at least one first trench, wherein for any second trench of the at least one first trench, the second trench overlaps with at least one third trench different from the second trench such that the second trench is cut off by the at least one third trench. Use the surface of the mold to emboss a thin film on the substrate to form the uneven structure.

  • Patent number: 9075178
Abstract: An optical substrate having a structured light output surface that comprises rows of laterally arranged snaking, wavy or meandering longitudinal prism structures. The prism structures at the light output surface may be viewed as comprising rows of laterally meandering longitudinal prisms and/or sections of curved segments coupled end-to-end to form the overall meandering longitudinal prism structures. The laterally meandering rows of longitudinal prism structures are arranged in parallel laterally (side-by-side), defining parallel peaks and valleys (a facet is defined between each adjacent peak and valley). In one embodiment, the lateral waviness is regular with a constant or variable wavelength and/or wave amplitude (or extent of lateral deformation). The lateral waviness may generally follow a sinusoidal profile, or other curved profile.

  • Patent number: 8899768
Abstract: A luminance enhancement film having a built-in light diffusing structure. The support substrate incorporates a dispersion of particles for light diffusion. In accordance with the present invention, a separate particle layer is not required in addition to the support substrate layer. The particles are integrated in the unitary support substrate layer. In one aspect of the present invention, the particles are dispersed near at least one of the planar surfaces of the support substrate (i.e., the light input surface light output surface or both of the support substrate. All the particles may be embedded below the surface of the support substrate, or some of the particles may protrude above the surface of the support substrate. In one embodiment of the present invention, the support substrate contains particles that are dispersed only close to its surface and form protrusions at the surface (i.e., the particle dispersed surface is not smooth).
