  • Patent number: 7095456
Abstract: A remote control device receives the user interface displays for controlling a primary controllee electronic device from the primary controllee device itself. The remote control device may also receive the user interface displays for controlling an auxiliary controllee electronic device from the primary controllee electronic device, which in one embodiment, generates the user interface displays in response to specifications received from the auxiliary controllee electronic display. A user controls the controlee devices using the user interfaces provided to the remote control device. In response, control commands are provided to the primary controllee electronic device, including commands for the auxiliary controllee device(s). The primary controllee device relays the commands to the auxiliary controllee device(s). Alternatively, commands for the auxiliary controllee devices may be provided to the auxiliary controllee devices directly.
