Patents Assigned to Ulster Carpet Mills (Holdings) Limited
  • Patent number: 8899275
Abstract: A tuft carrier loading apparatus (10) for loading individual tufts (17) into tuft retention sites (9a) spaced along an elongate tuft carrier (9). The apparatus (10) includes a guide for guiding longitudinal movement of the tuft carrier along a path of travel and a plurality of individually and selectively operable tuft feeders (50) spaced along the path of travel, each tuft feeder (50) being operable when selected to feed an individual tuft to a tuft retention site (9a) of the tuft carrier (9). A driver (70) is drivingly connected to the tuft carrier (9) for moving the tuft carrier (9) along the path of travel, the driver (70) being operable to intermittently move the tuft carrier (9) through a series of successive positions whereat predefined tuft retention sites (9a) are moved temporarily into registry with each tuft feeder (50).

  • Patent number: 7044172
Abstract: Apparatus for loading a row of tuft retention sites (TRS) in a gripper loom with a row of tufts (T) arranged in a predetermined pattern sequence, the apparatus including a group of yarn sources movable along said row tuft retention sites (TRS), drive means for sequentially moving said group of yarn sources along the guide means (33) and temporarily locating a desired yarn source in registry with a predetermined tuft site (TRS), and selectively operable tuft forming means which, on selection, transfer a tuft (T) from said desired yarn sources to said predetermined tuft site (TR).

  • Patent number: 5743306
Abstract: A tuft carrier loading apparatus for loading individual tufts into tuft-retention sites spaced along an elongate tuft carrier which is guided for longitudinal movement along a path of travel having a plurality of individually selectively operable tuft forming devices. Each tuft forming device is operable to feed an individual tuft to a tuft-retention site on the carrier. The carrier moves along said path of travel intermittently through a series of successive positions where predefined tuft retention sites are moved temporarily into registry with each tuft forming devices. By controlling selection of the tuft forming devices, tufts are fed to selected sites while the carrier is located at each successive position.
