  • Patent number: 11898831
Abstract: A bullet compressing device for creating marks imparted by a barrel of a gun on a bullet, has: a first member; a second member spaced from the first member by a gap, a dimension of the gap selected to correspond to at least a length of the bullet, the first and second members slidingly receivable within the barrel of the gun; a biasing member in engagement with the first and second members, the biasing member having a compressed configuration in which the first and second members are biased toward one another thereby decreasing the dimension of the gap, one of the first and second members engageable by an actuator, the first and second members and the bullet received therebetween movable relative to the barrel thereby imparting marks on the bullet by the barrel upon actuation of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 10902584
Abstract: Detection of surface irregularities in coins. Three-dimensional topographic data of at least one surface of a coin, having at least one feature, is acquired and used to determine characteristics of the coin features, based on vector components of normal vectors at various points on the surface of the coin. The feature characteristics are then compared to reference feature characteristics. Based on this comparison, an irregularity indication is provided if differences between the feature characteristics and the reference characteristics are found.

  • Patent number: 9080844
Abstract: There is provided a method for analyzing at least one object under a first microscope and a second microscope concurrently by linking the two microscopes together. Movement of one microscope will result in movement of the other. This is done by computing a transformation to link a first coordinate system and a second coordinate system and generating guidance data when one of the two microscopes is displaced, the guidance data corresponding to a set of operations to be applied to the other microscope to follow movement of the microscope that is displaced.

  • Patent number: 9007457
Abstract: There is described a method and 3D image acquisition system for addressing the specular nature of metallic surfaces in general, and ballistic pieces of evidence in particular, using photometric stereo by identifying and solving a plurality of sets of non-linear equations comprising a diffusive term and a specular term to determine a surface normal vector field N(x,y), and using N(x,y) to determine a 3D topography Z(x,y).
