  • Patent number: 5514864
Abstract: An apparatus for photo-electric automatic feedback compensation control is used with a charged coupled device (CCD) scanner to efficiently bring the CCD scanner into optimal operating range by controlling the output intensity of a light source based upon output readings from the CCD. A voltage controlled power supply drives a light source to emit light through an optical system to irradiate a CCD scanner. The voltage induced in the CCD scanner is output and manipulated to produce a digital control signal. When the photo-electric conversion rate of the CCD is too high, the light emitting intensity of the light source is reduced based upon the output of the CCD. When the photo-electric conversion rate of the CCD is too low, the output intensity of the light source is increased based upon the output signal of the CCD scanner.

  • Patent number: 5494271
Abstract: An improved transmission system for a document feeder, in which a constant one-way-rotating gear train is mounted in an output zone so as to cause a transmission shaft in the output zone to rotate in one direction only to send out a sheet of document no matter the driving gear rotates clockwise or counter-clockwise; therefore, as soon as a first sheet of document moves out of the scanning line without moving out of the output zone, the driving gear will change its rotation clockwise so as to have a next sheet of document fed into the scanning zone; therefore, the feeding distance between two sheets of document will be reduced, and consequently the whole feeding time for a document will be reduced, too.

  • Patent number: 5467465
Abstract: A method to simplify the use of a plurality of identical processors connected in parallel. The method contains the steps of: (a) obtaining a computer system having a CPU and a plurality of identical processors connected in parallel, the processors are also connected to the CPU; (b) obtaining first and second clocks of different oscillation frequencies, wherein the first clock having a slower oscillation frequency than the second clock; (c) connecting the first clock to only one of the plurality of processors and connecting the second clock to the rest of the plurality of processors; and (d) instructing the CPU to check only the processor connected to the first clock, which is connected to the slower clock, for a ready signal, and instructing the CPU to proceed to next step if a ready signal is received from the processor connected to said first clock.

  • Patent number: 5459752
Abstract: A simple digital method is disclosed for controlling the digital signals sent out from a pluralities of identical signal processors (i.e, signal generators) so as to achieve synchronization. The method comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a gate array logic circuit containing a plurality of pairs of comparison terminals and reference terminals, each of the comparison terminals is connected to a respective signal processor and the reference terminals are respectively connected to at least two different signal processors; (b) performing a gate array logic circuit operation, which comprises the following sub-steps: (i) performing a waiting procedure for each pair of comparison terminal and reference terminal until it is received that the comparison terminal is "1" and the reference terminal is "0", then moving to a gate procedure; otherwise, continuing the waiting procedure (i.e., no disable signal is sent out); (ii) performing a gate procedure by continuously sending out a "1" gate signal, i.e.
