Patents Assigned to Umea Mekaniska AB
  • Patent number: 4991673
Abstract: A cross-country vehicle includes a mobile chassis and a superstructure carrying a driver's cab wherein the superstructure is mounted on the chassis for tilting movement about a horizontal axis and a transverse axis and wherein a hydraulic cylinder on each side of the longitudinal axis acts between the chassis and the superstructure to tilt the superstructure about either or both axes in order to position the superstructure horizontally as the vehicle moves over rough ground.

  • Patent number: 4580797
Abstract: A self-leveling cross-country vehicle is provided with a carrier frame which is pivotally mounted to the vehicle frame about the longitudinal and transverse axes. Hydraulic cylinders are connected to each side of the mounting shafts of the carrier frame which are connected to a hydraulic pressure circuit. The wheels of the vehicle are mounted on axles which is provided with a hydraulic piston also connected to the hydraulic pressure circuit. The up and down movement of the axles as the vehicle travels over the ground actuates the hydraulic piston which levels the carrier frame with respect to the ground.

  • Patent number: 4169173
Abstract: A method of color marking logs wherein the logs are cut to predetermined lengths in a processing machine and are colored coded with one or a combination of different colors after the cutting has taken place. The colors correspond to predetermined information related to the log such as its length and are applied to an end portion of the log during a free fall after cut-off by means of automatically controlled paint sprayers. A sprayer for color marking the log is preset prior to its actuation by a signal corresponding to the predetermined log length.

  • Patent number: 4116250
Abstract: A tree felling unit includes a stand on which a clamping device powered by a hydraulic cylinder is pivotally mounted such that the tree to be felled can be clamped against the stand. Also, pivotally mounted on the stand for engaging the tree at about the same level are a chain saw powered by a hydraulic motor and a shearing knife powered by a hydraulic cylinder. The shearing knife performs its shearing movement in the direction against the feed direction of the chain saw.

  • Patent number: 3994327
Abstract: A feeding device for use with tree processing machines such as delimbing, barking and slashing machines wherein feed rolls are provided on each side of a feed path for the tree trunk. The feed rolls have a conical configuration and are mounted for rotation about axes inclined to each other at an angle equal to the base angle of the rolls. The surfaces of the feed rolls facing towards each other lie parallel and have a greater radial distance to the axis of rotation at the base portion of the feed rolls than at the upper portion thereof. This arrangement establishes a greater feeding force at the upper portion of the feed rolls than at the base portion and a circumferential speed for the feed rolls which is highest at the base portion and lowest at the upper portion thereby enabling tree trunks having relatively smaller diameters to be advanced through the rolls at relatively higher speeds.
