Abstract: An oral care composition comprises capsules which comprise an encapsulated gent encapsulated by an encapsulating material stable in the presence of anionic surfactants, said encapsulated agent being capable of providing a cosmetic, sensory, protective or therapeutic benefit to the oral cavity, wherein the capsules' weight average particle size ranges from 100 to 2000 .mu.m and wherein the capsules are capable of being gradually crushed during brushing thereby releasing the encapsulated agent gradually during brushing, the foaming capability being maintained throughout brushing.

Abstract: A bleach and oxidation catalyst is provided comprising a catalytically ace iron, manganese or copper complex including a specified pentadentate nitrogen-containing ligand. The metal complex can activate hydrogen peroxide or peroxyacids and provides favourable stain removal properties. In addition, a considerably improved stability of these metal complex compounds in alkaline aqueous environment has been obtained, in particular at the peroxy compound concentrations generally present in the fabric washing liquor.

Abstract: A method for bleaching laundry and household surfaces is provided which iudes preparing a wash medium with a bleaching composition incorporating polyoxometalates and being free of any effective amount of a bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide, organic peracids, inorganic peracids, organic persalts, inorganic persalts, Caro's acid, Caroates and mixtures thereof. A second step involves contacting a stained substrate such as a fabric, kitchenware or a household hard surface for a time and in an amount sufficient to remove the stains. Air is employed as a primary source of oxygen atoms for bleaching.

Abstract: A tablet of compacted particulate detergent composition has an indentation (39) around a periphery of the face (37) of the tablet. The surface circumscribed by the indentation preferably has higher permeability and is rougher than the surface of the indentation (39) itself. Such a tablet can be made by a process in which a detergent composition is compacted in a mould by at least one die with an elastomeric surface layer (36) on an area which contacts the composition, which layer (36) is surrounded by a rigid rim (30) which forms the indentation (39).

Abstract: The present invention relates to personal wash bar compositions, particuly compositions comprising (1) lathering anionic surfactants (e.g., sodium acyl isethionate or fatty acid soap); (2) specific solid, less hygroscopic amphoteric surfactants (e.g., disodium N-lauryl iminodipropionate). The invention relates to the incorporation of significant levels of said solid amphoteric surfactant into the specific bar compositions to achieve superior skin mildness and bar user properties. The invention especially addresses the advantages of using solid, less hygroscopic amphoteric surfactants to reduce the processing difficulties in extrusion and modified extrusion processes.
