Abstract: The speed of disintegration of tablets containing a water-softening agent, especially water-insoluble, water-softening agent intended as detergency builder for fabric washing is enhanced by incorporating spray-dried partially hydrated sodium acetate alone or jointly with sodium citrate dihydrate and/or crystallized sodium acetate trihydrate.

Abstract: A bleach and oxidation catalyst is provided comprising a catalytically ace iron, manganese or copper complex including a specified pentadentate nitrogen-containing ligand. The metal complex can activate hydrogen peroxide or peroxyacids and provides favourable stain removal properties. In addition, a considerably improved stability of these metal complex compounds in alkaline aqueous environment has been obtained, in particular at the peroxy compound concentrations generally present in the fabric washing liquor.

Abstract: A stable aqueous liquid comprising surfactant, dispersed cationic polymer particle and small particle benefit agent. The dispersed polymer interacts with the benefit agent, without need of additional structurant to stabilize particles in solution. Further, upon dilution, enhanced cationic deposition is achieved.

Abstract: The invention discloses handwash or personal wash shampoo compositions comprising surfactant(s), cationic wheat protein and an antibacterial agent. The cationic wheat protein provides enhanced skin feel relative to other proteins.
Abstract: An underarm composition is provided which includes C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl acetate, an underarm active selected from astringent salts and anti-microbial agents, and a carrier. The carrier may include propellant, silicone, ester and liquid paraffin. Methyl and t-butyl acetates are preferred. Acetates allow reduction in the levels of more volatile organics thereby decreasing air pollution. They also reduce formulation greasiness, are less clogging to spray nozzles, cause less metal can corrosion and reduce caking of actives through better resuspension.
Abstract: The speed of disintegration of tablets containing a water-softening agent, especially water-insoluble, water-softening agent intended as detergency builder for fabric washing is enhanced by incorporating sodium acetate trihydrate, potassium acetate or a mixture thereof. To inhibit caking and facilitate handling during manufacture, smaller particles of another substance are preferably provided at the surface of the crystals of the acetate or citrate.
Abstract: The present invention relates to lamellar phase compositions comprising dned surfactant systems and a structurant selected from the group consisting of liquid fatty acids liquid alcohols and derivatives thereof which structurant is responsible for inducing the lamellar phrase.

Abstract: A method for bleaching laundry and household surfaces is provided which iudes preparing a wash medium with a bleaching composition incorporating polyoxometalates and being free of any effective amount of a bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide, organic peracids, inorganic peracids, organic persalts, inorganic persalts, Caro's acid, Caroates and mixtures thereof. A second step involves contacting a stained substrate such as a fabric, kitchenware or a household hard surface for a time and in an amount sufficient to remove the stains. Air is employed as a primary source of oxygen atoms for bleaching.

Abstract: A tablet of compacted particulate detergent composition has an indentation (39) around a periphery of the face (37) of the tablet. The surface circumscribed by the indentation preferably has higher permeability and is rougher than the surface of the indentation (39) itself. Such a tablet can be made by a process in which a detergent composition is compacted in a mould by at least one die with an elastomeric surface layer (36) on an area which contacts the composition, which layer (36) is surrounded by a rigid rim (30) which forms the indentation (39).
