Publication number: 20030213529Abstract: There are practical difficulties in dosing a component of a composition into its container, such as a personal care product into a hand-holdable dispenser on a filling line, due in part to the short time that is available for the operation. The difficulties can be ameliorated or overcome by employing dosing apparatus in which a metering pump feeds a flowable material such a liquid through a dosing nozzle positioned above a container intended to receive a charge, the nozzle having a plurality of individual spouts spaced apart from each other so as to prevent their individual streams coalescing and the spouts extending sufficiently below its support to prevent droplets from adjacent spouts coalescing.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2003Publication date: November 20, 2003Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey Todd

Publication number: 20030211223Abstract: A squeezable nut butter, especially a squeezable peanut butter, and processes of making and using. The nut butter of the invention is readily squeezable from a container such as a tube or a squeeze bottle, thereby permitting very convenient application of the peanut butter onto bread or another vehicle for ingestion of the nut butter. The nut butter is sufficiently flowable to be readily squeezable, yet is viscous enough such that its application can be easily controlled. It does not flow so freely so that its placement is beyond the control of the user. Desirably, the nut butter of the invention possesses one or more of certain characteristics which make it ideal for a squeezable peanut butter. As indicated above, preferably the viscosity is neither so high that flow is impeded during squeezing, nor so low that the product flows uncontrollably. Moreover, the nut butter of the invention is stable against oil separation. The nut butters of the invention preferably include stabilizer, but in limited amounts.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2002Publication date: November 13, 2003Applicant: Unilever Bestfoods N.A.Inventors: Earl Carroll Eichelberger, Christopher B. Publication number: 20030211224Abstract: In a first embodiment, the invention is directed to an edible product comprising a squeezable nut butter in combination with a further edible component. The component is generally another food component which is desirably eaten with peanut butter, such as jelly, banana, marshmallow filling, chocolate, bacon bits, etc. Also, a squeezable edible product can advantageously be dispensed from a tube having an applicator cap with a dispensing orifice. Preferably the squeezable product is peanut butter, optionally in combination with a further food component such as jelly. The nut butter or other edible food is sufficiently flowable to be readily squeezable, yet is viscous enough such that its application can be easily controlled. It does not flow so freely so that its placement is beyond the control or the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2002Publication date: November 13, 2003Applicant: Unilever Bestfoods N.A.Inventors: Earl Carroll Eichelberger, Christopher Puno

Patent number: 6645480Abstract: Hair conditioning formulations containing a particular combination of cationic surfactants, have improved hair care benefits while maintaining excellent in-use characteristics. The compositions contain a first cationic surfactant such as cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, stearyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and behenyl trimethyl ammonium chloride. A second hydrophilically substituted cationic surfactant such as cocamidopropyl-N-2-hydroxyethylcarbamoylmethyldimethylammonium chloride, and a lipid material such as cetyl alcohol. Although formulations of the invention are based principally on cationic surfactant, and generally contain no anionic or amphoteric surfactant, they provide an acceptable level of cleaning and lathering whilst still conveying the wet slippy feel desired by consumers in connection with conventional hair conditioners.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2000Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, a division of Conopco, Inc.Inventor: Colin Christopher Giles
