Abstract: A polyurethane composition comprising:a) an isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer; andb) a curative agent comprising i) a polyol; ii) an aromatic diamine; iii) a thixotropic aliphatic amine; and iv) a thixotropic colloidal additive. This composition is useful for coating cylindrical objects.

Abstract: A method for producing aromatic amines such as N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine is disclosed wherein an amine substituted aromatic such as aniline is oxidized with oxygen or hydrogen peroxide in the presence of trisodium pentacyano ferrate(II) complexes containing various water soluble ligands, such as ammonia, mono alkyl amine, dialkyl amines, and trialkyl amines. The complex is subsequently catalytically reduced by hydrogenation using certain heterogeneous metal catalysts to yield the desired aromatic amine.

Abstract: An improvement in a process for the preparation of a p-aminodiarylamine by reduction of the corresponding nitroso or nitro compound with hydrogen in a hydrogenator in the presence of a catalyst is disclosed. The invention includes equipping the hydrogenator with filtration means capable of separating the p-aminodiarylamine product from the catalyst, whereby the p-aminodiarylamine product can be removed from the hydrogenator while the catalyst is retained therein, thereby permitting the reaction to be run semicontinuously or continuously.

Abstract: The present invention provides certain 3-aryl-5,6-dihydro-1,4,2-ocathiazines and their oxides, useful for the long-term preservation of wood and composite wood materials against wood damaging and wood destroying materials. The present invention also provides compositions containing these 3-aryl-5,6-dihydro-1,4,2-oxathiazines and their oxides, and a suitable vehicle therefor. A method of preserving wood is also disclosed in which a fungicidally or bactericidally effective amount of the present 3-aryl-5,6-dihydro-1,4,2-oxathiazines and their oxides, are applied to the wood substrate to be protected.

Abstract: Water-dispersible powder formulations used in connection with seed treatment and foliar treatment of plants provide excellent dust and rub-off control. The powder formulations comprise an active ingredient, a wetting agent, a dispersant, an anticaking agent, and an adhesion ingredient selected from the group consisting of a sodium salt of a polyacrylic acid, a sodium salt of maleic acid/acrylic acid copolymer, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, an alkylated polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and mixtures thereof. The wetting agent is present in an amount that is effective for enabling the powder formulation to be wettable by cold water. The dispersant is present in an amount that is effective for enabling the powder formulation to be dispersible in cold water. The anticaking agent is present in an amount that is effective for enabling the powder formulation to be re-suspendable in water. The adhesion ingredient is present in an amount that is effective for enabling the powder formulation to adhere to a plant leaf or seed.

Abstract: Water-dispersible polyurethane prepolymers comprising one or more organic diisocyanates; a difunctional compound having a molecular weight of from about 250 to about 10,000 which is difunctionally reactive with the organic diisocyanate and which is free of side chain polyoxyalkylene units; and a dispersion diol which is difunctionally reactive with the organic diisocyanate and which contains side chain polyoxyalkylene units. Methods of preparation of the prepolymers and their use in aqueous polyurethane dispersions are also described.
Abstract: A process for reducing the amount of residual organic diisocyanate monomer in a polyurethane prepolymer reaction product mixture which comprises distilling the polyurethane prepolymer reaction product mixture in the presence of a combination of at least one inert first solvent with a boiling point below the boiling point of the residual organic diisocyanate monomer and at least one inert second solvent with a boiling point above the boiling point of the residual organic diisocyanate monomer, at a temperature which exceeds the vaporization temperature of the residual organic diisocyanate monomer and which is below the decomposition temperature of the polyurethane prepolymer.
