Abstract: The invention relates to a side wall (1) of a plant for the continuous casting of metal strip (5) between two counter-rotating rolls (2, 2?) having horizontal axes and being internally cooled, the surfaces of which define a casting space confined laterally by two side walls (1) made of refractory, of the type comprising: a support plate (6) on the front face of which a recess (7) is made; an insert (9) made of hard material placed around the periphery of the recess (7); a lining (11) that fills the remainder of the recess (7); characterized in that the front face (12), turned towards the casting space, of the said lining (11) is set back by a maximum distance (d) from the front face (13) of the insert (9) over at least part of its length.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a part with very high mechanical properties, formed by stamping of a strip of rolled steel sheet and more particularly hot rolled and coated with a metal or metal alloy ensuring protection of the surface and the steel, whereby:
the steel sheet is cut to obtain a steel sheet blank,
the steel sheet blank is stamped to obtain the part,
an alloyed intermetallic compound is applied to the surface, before or after the stamping, ensuring protection against corrosion, against steel decarburization, which intermetallic compound may provide a lubrication function,
the excess material from the steel sheet required for the stamping operation is trimmed.
Abstract: An emulsion used to lubricate the surface of a steel sheet, comprising an additive corresponding to one of the following formulae: (R1-2—O—)1-2—PSS—(CH2)n—COO—(CH2)m—CH3, (R1-2—O—)1,2—PSS—CH2-&phgr;-O—H, (R1,2—O—)1,2—PSS—CH2-&phgr;-O—(CH2)n, —COO—(CH2)m, —CH3, where PSS designates a dithiophosphate function. The naked sheets of steel that are treated with said emulsion have very good tribological properties even when the density of the emulsion thus applied is less than or equal to 1 g/m2 when dry. The invention enables dry-looking oiled sheets to be obtained, whereby no re-oiling is required before forming even by die stamping.
Abstract: Process for the production of a hot rolled metal strip of very high strength, usable for shaping and particularly for stamping, characterized in that a steel of the following weight composition: carbon, 0.12-0.25%; manganese, 1-2%; aluminum, 0.03-2.5%; silicon, 0.03-2%; chromium, 0.04-2%; phosphorus, 0.02-0.09%; sulfur optionally up to 0.01%; titanium up to 0.15%; niobium up to 0.15%; vanadium up to 0.15%; is subjected to:
rolling at a temperature below 880° C.;
a first short cooling, carried out over a time less than 10 seconds,
a second controlled cooling with a cooling speed V ref1 comprised between 20° C./sec. and 150° C./sec., the temperature at the end of the second cooling being comprised between 700° C. and 750° C.,
holding at a temperature level,
a third cooling, also controlled, whose speed is comprised between 20° C./sec. and 150° C./sec., the temperature at the end of the third cooling being comprised between 350° C and 550° C.

Abstract: The method includes the steps of: preparing an organic mixture of oil, monomers selected among acrylic acid—and methacrylic acid esters and at most 25% of an acrylic or methacrylic monomer having an acide, amide, amine or epoxy group; placing the mixture in mini-emulsion in an aqueous phase in the presence of a co-solvent, preferably of the polyalkylene glycol type; and copolymerising the monomers in emulsion. When the emulsion is applied in a thin coating on a metal surface, it provides simultaneously a dry appearance, efficient protection and a pre-lubricating effect.
