Abstract: An applet may be downloaded or provided to a web browser when a user visits a site in order to protect data input by the user from being captured by malicious software, such as key loggers. The applet may present a user input field in the web browser and may generate a random sequence of low-level key stroke or mouse click events within the input field when the user enters information, such as a username and/or password. A listening key logger will receive a large amount of random data, whereas the applet will receive and buffer the actual user data that may be communicated to a remote site access by the user.

Abstract: A computer device and method for processing risk or loss related data to determine insurance mitigation actions. Informatic data is received for an insured property from one or more informatic sensor devices associated with the insured property. Analysis is performed on the received informatic data to determine one or more risk conditions relating to the insured property. A mitigation report is generated based upon the determined one or more determined risk conditions which identifies one or more mitigation actions to be taken by an insured to reduce risks and the potential for future losses to the insured property.

Abstract: Techniques are described for determining and/or verifying the location of a device based on environmental data. A device may provide location information describing its location, e.g., determined using a satellite-based navigation system. Environmental context data (e.g., temperature, air pressure, air quality, pollen count, ambient light, etc.) may also be received from the device, having been generated by sensor(s) incorporated into the device. The environmental context data may be compared to corresponding elements of other context data that is generated independently of the device. Based on the comparison, a confidence metric may be determined that indicates a level of confidence that the device's communicated location is its actual location. The confidence metric may be employed to make a security determination regarding a user of the device.

Abstract: The availability of one or more agents of an institution to communicate with a user may be determined and reported to the user. Information pertaining to whether at least one of a plurality of agents is available to communicate with a user is determined. A number of selectable agent characteristics is provided to the user. A selection of at least two of a plurality of the selectable agent characteristics is received from the user, as is a priority ordering of the selectable agent characteristics. A call is established between the user and the at least one of a plurality of agents based on the information and the priority ordering. Call volume statistics may be provided to the user and may be used to determine when an agent is most likely unavailable and/or most likely available.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method, system, and computer-readable storage medium with instructions for recommending locations to a user. Preferred criteria may be selected by the user, for example, or a third party, and provide objective or subjective information that the user is seeking in a location. Embodiments may include compiling objective information with the location and comparing the objective information to preferred criteria. A user's profile may be compared to another person's profile, where the other person's profile is associated to the location. A location may be recommended to the user if the objective information correlates to the preferred criteria and if the other person's profile correlates to the user's profile. Subjective information associated with the location may be provided to the user along with the recommended location. Furthermore, a location may be recommended to the user if the subjective information correlates to the preferred criteria.

Abstract: Techniques are described for authenticating a user to access information through an application executing on a computing device. Multiple authentication methods may be used in combination to authenticate the user with greater confidence than authentication provided by a single method, and to verify that the user is a live person and not an image or video. Facial recognition may be used in conjunction with heartbeat detection, via video analysis, to verify the user's identity and confirm that the user is live. Facial recognition may include capturing an image of the user's face and comparing certain points on the face with previously gathered information regarding the user. Heartbeat detection may include capturing a video segment of the user, stabilizing the captured video data, applying motion magnification techniques to the stabilized video data, and analyzing the stabilized, magnified video data to determine a presence of the user's heartbeat.

Abstract: A digital image of a check may be divided into segments. The segments may be processed to determine the edges between the background data and the check data in the segments of the digital image. A histogram of each segment may be determined and used to determine the edges of the check image portions in the segments and thus the edges of the check. The data outside the edges of the check image portions in the segments may be considered to be background data and may be identified and/or removed. The segments, with the background data removed, may be recombined into an image of the check and provided into a digital image file that may be transmitted to an institution system for deposit of the check in an account.

Abstract: Methods and systems described in this disclosure allow customers to personalize their phone experience when calling into an organization. In some embodiments, customers who may benefit from this service are identified based on the content of the customer's previous or current phone calls to the organization. The identified customers may be invited to enroll and to provide preferences for a customized Interactive Voice Response experience. In some embodiments, the customer can elect to hear the balances of one or more of his accounts without going through a phone menu or asking a representative to look up the relevant amounts. Once enrolled, when the customer dials into the organization and upon successful authentication, the organization proactively states the customer's account balances with no further customer request.

Abstract: A system has a plurality of communications devices within a geographic area. Each device is capable of communicating from within the geographic area with any other device proximate the device, and is also capable of communicating from within the geographic area with a communications service having access to an area external to the geographic area if such communications service is operational and available to the device. At least one of the devices is a gateway device that communicates from within the geographic area with the communications service, and at least some of the devices are non-gateway devices that communicate from within the geographic area with the gateway device. Each non-gateway device communicates from within the geographic area with the area external thereto by way of the gateway device and the communications service communicated with by the gateway device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a user are described. In some embodiments, a one-time token and a recording of the one-time token is read aloud by the user. The voice characteristics derived from the recording of the one-time token are compared with voice characteristics derived from samples of the user's voice. The user may be authenticated when the one-time token is verified and when a match of the voice characteristics derived from the recording of the one-time token and the voice characteristics derived from the samples of the user's voice meet or exceed a threshold.
