Patent number: 8301473Abstract: A stowage and center of gravity verification and assessment tool which assists users in locating items within an environment, determining the center of gravity of the environment, and calculating item location changes that facilitate altering the center of gravity. Each item to be tracked within the environment is equipped with one or more remotely pollable identifiers, such as, without limitation, barcodes, or RFID or ultrasonic tags, and the system stores the mass of each item. As items are moved in the environment, the system tracks the impact of such movement on the environment's center of gravity and recommends item location changes. The system can also assist users in locating items within the environment, provide access to detailed information about individual items, and assist with task scheduling.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2008Date of Patent: October 30, 2012Assignee: United Space Alliance, LLCInventor: Christopher E. Patent number: 7519238Abstract: A system and methods through which pictorial views of an object's configuration, arranged in a hierarchical fashion, are navigated by a person to establish a visual context within the configuration. The visual context is automatically translated by the system into a set of search parameters driving retrieval of structured data and content (images, documents, multimedia, etc.) associated with the specific context. The system places “hot spots”, or actionable regions, on various portions of the pictorials representing the object. When a user interacts with an actionable region, a more detailed pictorial from the hierarchy is presented representing that portion of the object, along with real-time feedback in the form of a popup pane containing information about that region, and counts-by-type reflecting the number of items that are available within the system associated with the specific context and search filters established at that point in time.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2007Date of Patent: April 14, 2009Assignee: United Space Alliance, LLCInventors: Tina L. Publication number: 20090055347Abstract: A system and method for providing a wireless emergency management application that facilitates the identification of persons who have various skills and/or training, thereby allowing the best available person to respond to an emergency or non-emergency situation. Still further, the instant system and method can track the location of specialized equipment, thereby allowing the equipment to be more readily employed when needed. The instant system and method can also wirelessly distribute EAP-related information, such as, without limitation, a role definition and a checklist to be followed in performing the tasks associated with that role, for each responder in a particular emergency response. As the responder responds to the emergency, his or her responses can be transmitted back to a centralized server for dissemination to and coordination with other users.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2007Publication date: February 26, 2009Applicant: United Space Alliance, LLCInventors: Andrea Hollman, Jon Kocen

Publication number: 20080216012Abstract: An instruction and training tool which facilitates access to instructional materials and provides a simulated training environment for personnel. By integrating the instruction and training tool with resource planning and scheduling tools, personnel can easily review the procedures necessary for the day's tasks, and the schedule can be adjusted to afford personnel additional review time prior to performance of a particular task. By integrating the instruction and training tool with an information management system, personnel can gain access to additional information related to a particular task. Such an integrated tool can be a significant resource, especially for personnel operating in remote environments, where additional assistance and information may not otherwise be available.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 29, 2008Publication date: September 4, 2008Applicant: UNITED SPACE ALLIANCE, LLCInventor: Christopher E. Publication number: 20080070196Abstract: A docked emulation system is provided which accesses real flight software and emulates the hardware interaction between an outpost system and a second system docking thereto. The system includes a MIL-STD-1553B software application that accesses data on an emulated MIL-STD-1553B bus to drive external MIL-STD-1553B applications in the second docking system. The system further includes software portal applications that access data traffic on emulated data buses to interface a data exchange between the outpost flight software and simulation models for outpost craft avionics and other components. A telemetry server in the system provides raw data from the flight software into a format complying with control center applications. The docked emulation system allows analysis of an emulated docking interaction between two outpost systems from a PC workstation without requiring access to actual flight computers of either system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2006Publication date: March 20, 2008Applicant: United Space Alliance, LLCInventors: Roger A. Publication number: 20050247165Abstract: A tool for extracting damaged fasteners which reduces foreign object debris, and a method of using the same. The tool preferably includes a collet, which can be constricted around the damaged fastener, an outer wheel, a jam wheel, a jam tube, a drill bit, and a drill stop. The tool is preferably configured such that the drill stop prevents overdrilling. The collet is preferably secured around the damaged fastener by turning the jam wheel, and the outer wheel can be turned in an effort to remove the fastener. If the fastener cannot be removed, the drill bit is applied until the fastener can be extracted. The design of the tool is such that foreign object debris created during this process is preferably contained within the tool itself, thus reducing contamination.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 21, 2005Publication date: November 10, 2005Applicant: United Space Alliance, LLCInventors: Rene Arriens, Steven Jezowski, Andrew Knight
